BUYERS BEWARE! READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY FROM THIS MAN!After purchasing a red & black uk spec 1978 Triumph T140E from Russell James I had nothing but hassle, with reference from the earlier review regarding this machine and the subsequent reply from Russell James I would like to make the following points,Why would we incur the expense of returning the motorcycle if the bike was running so well according to Russell. Unbeknown to him we took samples of contaminated fuel from the carburetors and fuel tank due to heavy rusting inside the tank. (Please see pics below) this obviously was one of the reasons why the bike was running do badly in our possession.The reason why we tried to contact Russell out of hours was that we had tried several times to contact him during office hours to no avail, we also have it in writing from Russell that he would not speak to us on the phone accusing us of being aggressive which he does with everyone that challenges him.Russell is not a lovely knowledgeable" man as far as we are concerned as per previous rather dubious 5 star reviews the only Knowledge he does seem to have is how to deal with situations like this which obviously appears to be quite common for him.We did not take Russell up on his offer to resell the bike on our behalf as firstly he would not even speak to us and quite frankly we did not trust him

SOMETIMES YOU JUST GET REALLY LUCKY !I heard about this Classic Bike dealer and started to look at his bikes for sale. I quickly realised that he had an excellent eye and was sourcing very good (predominately matching numbers) machines. Before too long a bike or two caught my attention and I went down to have a look. I was very impressed with Russell who I found to be extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he was selling, I felt he had the perfect business and personal balance running his operation.In short I visited him a couple of times, first test riding a lovely T140V and then on returning to view another T140V saw a beautiful 1970 T120r which had literally just come in and was awaiting preparation. This subsequently having been carried out I returned and absolutely fell in love during my test ride. Deal done, the bike was superbly prepared in Russell's workshop and I returned a couple of weeks later to collect her. I went for a 30 mile ride yesterday and what an absolutely cracking bike she is ! I cannot recommend Russell and his extremely capable mechanic/right hand man Jonah enough. I found Russell to be a real people person, extremely patient with nothing being too much trouble and he thoroughly deserved the sale. I was just fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and got to be the lucky buyer and its new owner !

I sold a bike to Russell and found him to be very honest and straight to deal with. He asked me some questions about the bike and had very realistic expectations and he is clearly very knowledgeable. He quickly made a decision to buy the bike, I had the money in my bank account the next day and the courier picked the bike up a few days later. It couldn't have been easier and Russell kept me informed all through the process.If you have a classic bike to sell and you have a reasonable expectation of its value then I highly recommend that you talk to Russell rather than having to deal with the dreamers that use eBay.

Very pleased with the bike. Russel made sure the bike was as good as it could be before letting me have it. Kept me informed of all that was going on and it was nice to deal with someone who cares as much about his customers as he does about the bikes he sells.

In need of advice regarding the sale of my late friends old Bonneville, I consulted Russell. He was extremely generous with his time and gave an unbiased opinion which was invaluable.

I have purchased a superb T140V from Russell. Russell was very helpful and straightforward throughout the process and spent a considerable amount of time explaining important detail and answering my questions on operating and maintaining the T140. Russell and his colleague Jonah really understand these machines and are careful and thorough in preparation of the motorcycles which Russell offers for sale. Because he has a wealth of motorcycle knowledge, particularly on Meriden Triumphs, he selects his stock carefully. If you want a classic Triumph, call Russell.

He has been delightfully patient with me and very helpful in sourcing, preparing and delivering a beautiful 1966 Triumph T100ss. Nothing has been too much bother. Very pleased with my purchase of a 1969 T100 Tiger. Normally I would insist on viewing in person before committing to buy a motorcycle, especially one of this age. For once because of distance from me and the excellent quality of the photos, video and fair price I could see this machine would soon sell. I phoned Russell and he gave a very accurate description of the bikes history, condition and even sent a photo of a tiny flaw on the paintwork I couldn't see freeze framing the video. He was happy to answer all my questions without me feeling any sense of being rushed or persuaded to make a purchase.I have never heard of his company before so read all the other reviews (including the rare and possibly unjustified bad apples) and after sleeping on it decided to purchase the machine the following morning. From then on I received a very smooth and straightforward process of making a deposit to secure and after receiving an order paid the balance. All communication and questions whether by email or telephone were answered promptly by Russell. A delivery date was confirmed as soon as the machine had been checked over in the workshop.The motorcycle was delivered efficiently by his regular courier for a very reasonable price. Upon arrival I was absolutely stunned by the condition of the bike, it looked even better than on the video, started easily and everything worked nicely.Obviously Russell cannot vouch for how good the bike is longer term mechanically, it had been rebuilt 600 miles/10 years previously and that is a risk anyone takes when buying such an old bike but this one certainly rode and sounded very good indeed.Buying an old bike is a risky business and the potential purchaser should do as much research as possible, however if Russell had another motorcycle I was interested in I would have no hesitation whatsoever in dealing with him again. Thank you!

Awesome customer service. Saw a T100 advertised by Russell and called him. He supplied a walk around video within the hour, pointing out all the relevant bits. As I have never bought a bike without being there to see it, I was a bit concerned, but there was no need for any concern when dealing with James Russell Motorcycles. We did the deal and the Triumph was courier delivered at a great price.The T100 is a one owner, 3,700 miles, 2007 model and was every bit as good promised.After it arrived we noticed the steering lock keys were missing, so without hesitation, Russell obtained a brand new lock and had it fitted locally. Russell is a great guy and I would buy again from him in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

I have recently sold my Triumph Bonneville T140E to Russell James Motorcycles.The whole experience from discussion through to negotiation and culminating in sale was totally “Pain Free” and a pleasure!Something to be said in the current times that we find ourselves in.I would have no hesitation in both recommending or using Russell James Motorcycles in the future.
