Oysters Chippy

I went into oysters chippy Saturday the 9 May 2020 normally I would rate them 5 stars always.My son eats chicken kebab and he couldn't eat his so went in bin to.but another man was doing the cooking i have seen him a few times so when this guy is there the food is awful I had to throw my chips in the bin because they were so black and fish didn't taste the same also my son had to throw his away.Also it's seems it's bad when George isn't there he does fab food so be aware make sure George is cooking the food I will always give him 5 stars think this needs to be sorted before they loose the buisness does anybody know who owns oysters.

Not a pleasant meal again tonight. Kids meal comes with a toy the poster says.....nope. paid £2.00 for a box of salad, absolute insult for a tablespoon of lettuce. Shocking. Brought £15.00 of food overall. Just sharp chip bits, kebab very poor.

I waited for nothing short of 40 minutes, arriving with only a couple of people in, just before he evening rush around 5 ish so most haven’t made it from work yet. After 10 minutes waiting for that, I was then told to wait for fish, i wanted 2 fish that was all, but the other 10/11 people behind me went ahead while i stood for another half hour because they hadn’t any fish cooking nor chips ready. Food was actually quite nice but the service was appaling, the two girls working there didn’t seem to have a clue, had faces like smacked bottoms with no form of apology to customers waiting an age, and seemingly not informing the man what and when things needed cooking.

i have given them one star for being open !went in at 6pm waited 10 mins so thought at least the chips would be fresh., Already disappointed when the two mince and onion pies we ordered were thrown into the microwave in front of us. when we got home, at best, the chips were todays lunchtime leftovers but could have been from anytime in the last week given the sad sorry state of them. Luckily the dog is not at all fussyl about what he eats !. Hubby is now busy cooking us something we can eat.i have never been moved to review anything before but this was so bad i felt i had a public duty to warn people. LOOK AT YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE AND COMPLAIN IF IT DOESN'T LOOK EDIBLE.

Absolute banging fish and chips. We had sausage, battered chips, regular chips, battered cod, mushy peas and Curry sauce and everything was cooked to perfection. We will Definitely be returning thanks to Chris and the team!

George is fantastic, cares about the food he serves, how his staff serve you and the quality of the food is top notch.However, there is another man that cooks and he is nowhere near as good..Bottom line, if george isn't there, come back another day.

I bloody love this place! I actually travel 10 miles to get my food.The food is hot fresh and the fish is beautiful and I love the fact that theres a chunk of lemon with it. Staff are always pleasant and I would highly recommend you visit this chippy

After previously leaving a 5* and very positive review, I’m disappointed to say my last few visits have been a real disappointment and I won’t be going back. The £1 a piece fried chicken has gone up to £1.70 a piece making it more expensive than KFC and was VERY VERY dry. Clearly, it’s not selling so well since it went up 70% in price! Tonight I had battered chips. A good owner would have refused to sell them. They’d clearly been there a long time and were rock hard (bone dry). Straight into the bin. Had the chips as part of a medium fish special (£6.50). The curry sauce was also dry (de-hydrated) - straight in the bin! The medium fish usually fills the box that they are served in. Tonight it was a mini-fish and there was easily an inch gap on each side of the fish to the box.So £6.50 for a mini fish, the rest in the bin. The only positive, the girls serving on the counter are very polite. The “fryer” tonight was a miserable older man, usually a younger man who is very welcoming and polite, nice chap. Grumpy older man was speaking down to the young girls working to serve the customers. I don’t like that! Will probably find out he is the owner!Looks like Olympic Fish Bar will be my new “go to” in Penkridge

We go here every other Friday as my dad loves a fish supper. Unfortunately it's really gone down hill. The salad was browning, and my wife found a hair in an extremely dry/ over cooked fishcake. The floor was very greasy too, it was raining but not grease! Main road chippy from now on.
