Came here during a visit to the nearby reservoir. Generous portions of delicious classic pub food. A bit of a wait for the food as it was busy at lunch. Recommend the beef and ale pie.

This is a venue that is most appreciated outside.They have built a marquee with heaters, but more than that, excellent views of the valley and hills to appreciate , whatever the weather.Once you let the reception team know that you have arrived for your booking, they are quick to arrive to take drinks orders.We have visited a few times and I really enjoy the menus. Lots of variety, depending on how healthy your appetite is. There is a nice gapping between tables to allow privacy, and from my perspective always, I appreciate a place that makes dogs feel as welcome as humans.The deduction of a star is simply because it is so popular, in a beautiful village that you need to travel to via car, that parking can be a challenge.My go-to for an excellent Sunday lunch.

Had drinks over the weekend and Lunch on Sunday with a group of friends. Great choice of well kept beers, wines and spirits. Food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the pub was clean and warm and in a beautiful scenic location. Highly recommend.

Stayed not too far away & we booked a room for lunch as there were 25 of us. Firstly this place accommodated 25 plus 3 small dogs.The food here was such a high standard.The mushrooms for starter was delicious & my main I had chicken. No one complained about their meal. The staff were friendly & kept an eye on our group.Well done chefs & staff.Would recommend 100%

Wow absolutely delicious food! Well priced, good portion size. Lovely staff and a cosy atmosphere. I was so glad to see so many vegetarian options, I was spoilt for choice! I will definitely visit again. I had the Sunday dinner nut roast and the apple and mixed Berry crumble. Delicious.

Visited for lunch on a week day and didn't need to book a table. Good selection of food which is reasonably priced. Service was prompt and staff were pleasent. Food and drinks served were fresh and tasted good.

Expensive but worth every penny. Exceptional meat that is cooked to perfection. An idyllic location and a wonderful old pub / restaurant. Pleasant and attentive staff. A hidden gem between Leek and Buxton. Worth seeking out.
