Recommend parking on the road and not in the car park - the car park is very bumpy and smallLovely woodland, look forward to returning

A really nice family walk. The dogs loved it. Little bit of road walking but fairly quiet roads anyway. The car park is on the right only about 250 yards once you've turned into Crimborne Lane, so beware! Under a height restriction. Blink and you'll miss it.

What a fantastic woodlands. Sit still enough and you might see deer. It feels huge and once you get in a bit further and can’t hear so much traffic it really feels like you’re away from everyone. I’ve been a couple of times and never met another person there, not even in the car park. Definitely want to visit again as there’s lots more to explore. Ive heard that if you’re going to go deep in it is advisable to take a map and compass. We also got caught in a huge rain shower and got totally soaked (had rain jackets but not waterproof trousers or any shelter). The whole place went dark and we actually thought the sun was going down. And then the skies opened. Afterwards everything was dripping and glistening. It was awesome but if you’re in a long way and have quite far to walk back a change of clothes or waterproof trousers are a good idea.

As soon as I parked, three naked men stood and stared at me. I was shocked and drove off. The tea was very nice though.

Although quite muddy and difficult to navigate, this is all part of its charm. You can feel a million miles away from civilisation and crowds as you wander through this immense woodland with spectacular veteran trees and old archaeological features.

Old woodland with interesting trees. Good place to explore long trails can be found here

Not that easy to find, a quiet wooded area, not too extensive. We did not find a lot of wildlife but it was a good respite from the heat.
