Having stayed here in the past when the building had only recently been converted, we were incredibly disappointed and frustrated by our experience this summer. We stayed for one night either side of a week up North, to break up the journey. The building and rooms were clean enough but it's all looking incredibly dated these days. I didn't have breakfast but my husband and parents did. Hot food is supposed to be cooked to order but the first time it seemed like it had been batch cooked and left to sit in the kitchen, though the second time it did seem to be cooked fresh. The main issues we had were while trying to actually sleep. The first night we were there, we were jolted awake at 5am by the fire alarm. Unsure of whether it was a genuine emergency or not, my husband and I hovered in the corridor along with a few other guests who were equally confused, when a flustered night manager came hurrying round the corner. He saw us stood by our door, asked if were in room [xx] and when we said we were asked us if we'd been smoking because the alarm had been set off in our room. Not whether or not we were okay or if we'd seen or smelled smoke in the room, just jumped straight to the assumption we'd set it off by breaking the law. For the record, we're both non-smokers and were fast asleep when the alarm went off. We told him as much, and he proceeded to walk straight into our room to check that for himself - again, not to check electrical outlets or the area around the sensor, he was clearly checking for evidence of smoking. The alarm stopped briefly, before going off again, and by the time it was finally off properly it was gone half 5 and my anxiety levels were through the roof. There was no apology to any of the guests for the distress, nor any to us for the accusation or invasion of privacy. The following week we were in a different part of the building and found ourselves overlooking the rear courtyard between the rooms and the back of the restaurant, where they have what I suspect is their industrial air conditioning unit. It was so loud we couldn't leave the windows open and even with them closed it was still loud enough to cause a disturbance. This was particularly stifling as the air conditioning units in the room were also incredibly loud, so we'd turned them off in both rooms to be able to sleep. Except at 11pm, both units turned themselves back on, waking us yet again. In both rooms we struggled to get them to turn off again, spending several minutes thinking the units were broken and we'd have to go down to reception. Eventually they did turn off, but my husband and I were too stressed out to go back to sleep so were trying to wind ourselves back down when drunken guests came laughing down the corridor.By the morning we were all so wound up and fed up we just wanted to get out of there rather than complain, so we left and my Dad submitted a request for the Good Night Guarantee - which is supposed to guarantee a refund if you are not happy with your stay for any reason, and can be done online for up to 7 days. His request was refused, with claims such as the air conditioning units are supposed to turn themselves back on, and he should have complained at the time. It should be made clear that online requests go through Head office, so this was not the response of the local manager. So not only were both stays absolutely awful, the company are refusing to uphold their Good Night Guarantee. Needless to say, we will never be staying at this location again and unfortunately our opinion of the company as a whole has been significantly impacted.

Good hotel. Friendly. Air con in room worked for 2 days then broke down. Didnt need air con this time. Window opens enough for air movement. Clean room. Lovely bed. Plenty tea and coffee. Great location.

Probably one of the worst Premier Inn's I have stayed in. Don't get me wrong, the staff were very nice and the attached Beefeater was great but the room was not nice. first of all we walked into the room and the air conditioning was on, this made the room smell like bad body odour. we turned the AC off, opened the window and by the time we came back the smell had gone. for some reason there was a single bed in our room that they tried to disguise as a chaise longue... it didn't work. it just felt like a manky old bed had been left in there and it made the room feel dirty. The bathroom lino floor was dirty all around the edge and the wall tiles looked really cheap. Not the best experience so will be choosing a different Premier Inn next time.

What a lovely place. The views from our room (at the rear) were stunning, could stay all day just looking out to the country side. The breakfast was the best I have had in a long, long time. Weldone to the person in the kitchen.

The room was clean, the bathroom had a bath with a shower over the bath. The Inn was well positioned for Chatworth House and Haddon Hall. There was a Beefeater next door that served breakfasts and evening meals. When staying there for two nights, we took advantage of a deal for breakfast and evening meal package. The staff were very helpful when we requested to have extra pillows. Comfy bed.

The hotel is okay, ideal if visiting Chatsworth House. The rooms were clean, a little dated though. We booked an evening meal in the connecting pub. The food was good, the service was not.Thank goodness for the waiter James, he was so busy and yet very attentive. The rest of the staff didn't do much really - James had only been there about a week and seem to be the one running the show.He needs a pat on the back from the management for sure.I would stay there again.

I've stayed at this hotel 5 times now. And the place is always spotless and exceptional service from staff.Brilliant location and always a brillant sleep. My only criticism is the price over £100 a night. Compared to other Premier inns there between £40-70 a night. But still wouldn't stop me coming back for the brillant service and stay. And the Beefeater next door is amazing too. Food is delicious and always fresh.

Very helpful proactive staff, spotless comfortable peaceful room with a small view. Food next door was good and the new open top tour bus for peaks ( Peak Sightseer) picks up here so has a scenic day out ( £15 for upto 5 people)
