Nice little woodland area. With exposed geology.

Very interesting place for a half-hour ramble with easy access from Maryon Wilson Park.Remote once you're in, really quiet most of the time. Although access is fine for all walkers, to get those great views at the top you will need to be able to walk some steep and rough terrain. Stunning in the sunshine. Fits into a longer walk to the Thames barrier from Eltham Park via Oxleas Wood, Charlton Park and Woolwich Common.

Unloved or at least unsung nature refuge hidden away amid otherwise pretty unremarkable and unrelenting suburban sprawl. Who knew I'd learn about our recent use of the area for sand mining and the 65 million years of geological layers revealed by it and still visible today! Down at the lowest level you're basically standing on dead sea creatures (now chalk) from when the UK was once covered by a tropical sea! We are talking dinosaur time people! Amazing reward for a little park with a humble A4 laminate sign on the entrance!

Well worth climbing to the top of Cox's Mount for the amazing views; quickest route is by Charlton Lane Crossing. Sadly, difficult/no access for cycles, wheelchairs, baby buggies, etc. due to badly designed barriers.
