Charter Veterinary Hospital - Barnstaple

I cannot recommend Charter Veterinary Hospital more. My dog had a lump that needed x-rays to investigate them - a pretty minor procedure, but since he had to be sedated, I was terrified.The team goes above and beyond at all stages - from the nurse who took my dog out back to find an available vet (as she wasn't able to diagnose for sure), to the way they explained all options for next steps, to the phone call the day prior, the phone call as soon as the dog woke up, the in-person conversation about findings, and the check up call the day after. I fully trust this team to look after my dog (and me!).

Brilliant vets especially for dentistry with Tom.Only suggestion for improvement would be slightly better communication.

Cannot fault the service they give. Our loveable little rat dog is all the better for her major operation. I won't say if theyre cheap or expensive as I've yet to meet a vet who was anything but expensive but overall the care level was very good and thats all that really matters

Friendly and helpful reception. Vet was fantastic and helped us turn our cat's health around completely. Understanding and not judgemental, informative and supportive. We are incredibly happy and grateful.

I would give 0 stars. Our dog had to be put to sleep yesterday but we had to wait 6-7 hours for the appointment. This meant we were waiting at home all day knowing this which was how our day was going to end. We got quoted a price on the phone prior to the appointment but they then changed the price after when we attempted to pay due to our dog being in a higher weight class (even though they had her weight on records). We then got told in the appointment for her euthanasia we would have time to make a decision and we had a few days but would have to arrange the cremation ourselves. I went to pay today and was told our dog was shipped off today to their cremator they promote which charges extortionate prices (£320! Which we will not be paying). Now we have to wait until our dog gets dropped back to us before we can continue with our cremation plans! Absolutely far from good enough and has caused the death of our dog to be so much more stressful than it should have been.

This veterinary practice is all about money not care. I was with their pet care plan. I paid by standing order monthly. I left the plan when I left the practice due to their extortionate fees. They have appointed a debt collector who is hounding me with threatening letters and phone calls for what they say are vetinary fees but is actually a £90 cancellation fee.. it's disgraceful

Had our dog put down had to wait 5 hours then was quoted 160 for the day after to be told it was 175 also we got told we had until Monday to decide wat to do for us to find out she's already been sent to paingnton which we never said was allowed. Shocking service and very rude staff .sounds to me all they Care about is the money AVOID at all costs

We are on holiday nearby and one of our dogs broke his leg. The Chater team provided emergency care for our dog so we can travel back to our regular vet for surgery.Very professional team who helped us out of ours.I can only praise them for their care. Obviously this all came with a hefty price tag but that isn't relevant.Thank you Chater team.
