Lovely food but had to be eaten fast as dining room was very cold no fire on or heating up even though we had booked in advance, but will be back in warmer weather

Have eaten there many times with friends,always excellent food and lovely welcoming staff,reading some of the reviews I just can't believe some of them. Just did not sound like they were ever there!!Last night they were busy,I met an American couple who told me they had just enjoyed the best dinner since coming to Scotland !!The young staff were all lovely very attentive and friendly.Thanks so muchDennis MacRae14/10/2023

We love this place! We didn’t stay there but we ate there 3 nights in a row because it’s the friendliest place in town — great food, great atmosphere. But also the service we received was 10/10. Big thanks to Gary and Isla, and one other server whose name we didn’t grab but she was also great! fun place to dine for sure.

Best accommodation and evening meal we had while on holiday by far. Highly recommend, when we come back we will stay again. Great atmosphere excellent staff. Would have stayed for more days but left it too late to book longer.

This is a gem of a hotel. The style is very traditional and well maintained. The room - classed as a 'cosy double' was small but adequate with a lovely bathroom. It was comfortable and warm. The real fire in the entrance hall was great, as was the service in the bar and restaurant. The food was really good with large portions well cooked.

Meal-only review, The inn is very nice. Charming and has character.Our welcome was terrible, a sign stating, please wait to be seated. A rude gentleman (staff) kept walking in and out of the kitchen and just ignored us. Didn't even say someone will be with you in a moment.The menu is limited and slightly overpriced but it tasted lovely. The young lady who served us was friendly and helpful.We wouldn't return tbh.

The Boat Country Inn & Restaurant reduced me to tears during my 30th birthday meal. I have never experienced such appalling and utterly rude service anywhere in my life. We were made to feel unwelcome from the moment we stepped inside. Here are some examples of how we were treated:- Some of the guests were running 10 minutes late, however the majority had sat down. The waiter asked me where the late ones were and said, “We’ve booked you in for 6pm so we can make sure you are gone for 8pm”.- The booking was made under a typically Scottish surname. When the first party member arrived (this party member is an ethnic minority) the waiter asked if they were the main guest. The party member said no and the waiter said “Didn’t think so”.- Cutlery and food were thrown down on the tables. Drinks were tossed in the middle rather than dished out between guests.- Whilst meals were being dished out, instead of getting to enjoy my birthday dinner I was made to stand in the middle and shout out meals, with staff getting annoyed at me when I couldn’t do it as fast as they wanted me to.- During the happy birthday song and cake being presented to me, the waiter didn’t even have the decency to wait one minute for the song to finish before trying to clear the food from the plate in front of me. The cake pictures are of me, a cake and a strange man with a plate of barely touched fish leaning over me. The staff stressed us out so much, many guests could barely take a bite of their food.- After the main meal we were not offered any dessert menus or teas or coffees. They really couldn’t get us out of there fast enough.There were other instances of rude behaviour, those described above are just the highlights. We were honestly stunned at this treatment. If large group bookings are not welcome at this establishment, then I would recommend the establishment NOT accept group bookings.In terms of food, the Cullen Skink was delicious, and that is what merits the one star provided in this review. However the macaroni cheese was disgusting, it was like eating raw dough.Avoid at all costs.

Had an absolutely incredible meal here tonight - simply world class. Best meal out I’ve had in nearly 20 years. Excellent service from friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful part of the world. Service was ok, could've been better. Food was quite good but pricey. 15 dishes available and only 2 veg options was pretty disappointing.
