Excellent view of the loch from a free parking spot! and a lot of history right there in-front of you.Loch Ewe and its people played a pivotal role in the events of World War Two. Between 1941 and 1944, the loch was a base for the Arctic convoys. These ships provided essential supplies to war torn Russia along a route described by Winston Churchill as ‘the worst journey in the World’. The crumbling concrete towers, rusting metal posts and old gun emplacements around the loch are evidence of this remarkable wartime story.
