The Shire Inn
The chef clearly thought it was okay to send burnt chips out of his kitchen, the server thought it was okay to serve them. When asked if everything was okay with the meal I said about the chips and the remark from the young waitress was ‘oh’ another waitress walked past and viewed our plates and said those chips look awful to that I replied they are, at this point my daughter and I had enough… the first waitress came to collect our plates and could see we hadn’t ate a lot then asked again if everything was alright… clearly I was polite and said not… she then spoke with her manager and we got offered a free dessert to which I kindly declined… I just wanted a decent meal with my daughter… other peoples chips looked fine. I paid for the disgusting meal and left… won’t recommend and won’t be returning!!!The shire was always a place I have been with family and friends… shame as I have always regarded as an okay place.My stomach all night was churning and this morning it’s aching…

A great place for carvery but also has a good mix of other options including veggie and vegan. I had spicy jackfruit bao buns as a starter which were very tasty (and filling) and my normal option of beef carvery for mains. My husband enjoyed a spicy chicken dish on our last visit. As it's a short drive from home we usually ring first for a table but generally there is plenty of room on weekdays even in holiday time. Off season there are less rooms open but they open all areas during the summer. There is also a pleasant terrace outside and a small play area for children

I recently dined at The Shire Inn Restaurant and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant was clean and had a friendly atmosphere, which added to the overall positive impression. In terms of pricing, I found the menu to be well-priced considering the generous portions of food served.My kid thoroughly enjoyed her meals, and the portion size was satisfying. The only minor issue was that the food was served very hot, but we quickly resolved that by allowing it to cool down a bit.My partner ordered from the limited vegetarian menu and chose the Lasagne. While she felt that it could have been better, she acknowledged that taste preferences can vary, so it might have been a matter of personal preference.As for me, I opted for the roast, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The portion was substantial, and the flavours were delicious. I would definitely recommend it to others.Lastly, I couldn't resist trying the homemade cake, which came at a cost of £5 per slice. Though it might seem a bit pricey, I found it to be worth every penny. The cake was delectable and made for a delightful end to the meal.Overall, The Shire Inn Restaurant provided a pleasant dining experience with friendly service, well-priced meals, and delicious dishes. I would certainly visit again, especially for their mouthwatering roast and indulgent homemade cake.

Amazing carvery, everything was cooked perfectly. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and thanks to the staff for letting us add two more people last minute, very accommodating. A+

Always heaving on Sundays when I go. Which is a good sign!Staff are always working very hard to keep up the masses fed and watered here.The Carvery is so good. Improved on prior years also.The extras you can get of Pigs in Blankets, Honey Parsnips and Cauliflower cheese are really really tasty and I believe worth being added extra side orders.I wouldn't expect to be seated at your booking time, as they're so busy they're bound to have guests overnight their slot.Great value for money which the food.The Desserts are the best, it really a world apart from most other eateries.100% reccomend it here.They do takeout too

The Shire Inn
On arrival we was seated in a very noisey area, we requested to move which they sorted which was great, bit of delay in getting drink but it was very busy. Food very nice. Desserts were amazing. Toilets were in need of a good clean I think that was down to unsupervised children as toilet paper was bunged up in most of loos and all over floor.

Not much parking, we got lucky. 13:00 on a Sunday. Incredible carvery. Meat melts in your mouth. Yorkies could be a bit better but still decent. Would happily eat here again.
