I am the owner of a lower ground property in Edinburgh’s new town with three under pavement cellars and one small cellar under the stairs leading to the courtyard. The previous owner had employed a company to tank the 3 main cellars, one of which served as a bedroom within an extension of the property. Within a year or so of ownership of the property I noticed several damp patches on two of the courtyard cellars. I researched a number of reputable companies to inspect the issues, provide an overview of the options available and a budget for carrying out the required work. After much consideration I chose Kingston Preservation because I was impressed with the prompt response rate, the detailed survey and subsequent report, as well as the fixed cost invoice and breakdown which I received the same day. I decided to offer the contract to Stuart (company owner) based on his knowledge, friendly attitude and competitive rates. Furthermore, Stuart has an excellent team of trade professionals (Joiner, Plumber, Electrician, Plasterer and Painter) and he coordinates the work extremely well. Such contracts always have their hidden complexities and some companies often use this to their advantage to increase the costs. However, Stuart dealt impressively with the various challenges and these complexities and kept the cost to the agreed fixed price. Stuart turned the 3 ‘waste of space’ cellars into a two beautiful office spaces with both internal and external doors, radiators and spot lights and one dry storage space. We are very satisfied with the standard of workmanship. These cellars have become a focal point of our property and no doubt have increased its value.On completion of the contact Stuart provided a 20 year warranty on the work carried out.My wife and I were so delighted with the quality of the work, the level of positive communication between us all and the standard of work that we did not hesitate to sign another contract to completely strip out the old tanking from the converted cellar and replace it to the same quality and standard of the courtyard cellars.Thank you Stuart and your team for carrying out an amazing job to date, for minimising the stress despite the unexpected ‘surprises’ and for the trust and reliability. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone thinking about having (or needing) their cellars tanked and converted . You would not be disappointed and are welcome to come and inspect the extent and standard of work that has been carried out on our property.
