This simple but effective tool has made honing of chisels and plane blades a much easier task than messing about with oil and sharpening stones. It took me a while to bring 'used and abused' blades up to scratch, but once that was done it has been easy to keep them that way. The great thing is that, because it's so easy, I'm now honing the edges much more frequently. Sharp tools make woodworking so much easier, more accurate and more fun. A very good investment, and highly recommended.

Can’t praise the G Sharp Sharp Edge chisel sharpening system highly enough. I have found it to be easy to use, accurate and if you take your time and go through the grades of hone and also use the backing off tool then it produces a fabulous fine edge. Obviously it can’t take out serious ‘dings’ in your chisels but if you have an acceptable blunt edge to start then this kit easily converts that edge to very fine.

I purchased your sharp edge tool at the Woodworking show at Newark showground on Friday 10th and although sceptical about how easy it was to use I was pleasantly surprised as it was very easy to set up and use. The slider was a little stiff but with a spray of dry silicon it slides very easy and soon had the out of square edges on my chisels squared up and sharpening far better than I have been able to achieve previously

I bought this device after watching a You Tube video of someone demonstrating it. I'm almost sure I bought it on Amazon but cannot be sure.It is absolutely brilliant for either keeping your chisels sharp after use or removing nicks from the blade.I would highly recommend this item to any wood-worker.

I have used this sharpening system for some four years. It is without a doubt an ingenious principle and one that works well for many woodworkers. The vast majority of users of this tool are likely to be hobbyists, tradespersons and to some extent professional cabinet makers. As a heavy, busy user of chisels largely for fairly fast turn around work in British knotty hardwoods this system works well for me to give the tools a quick fettle to get a good edge to do quick and accurate well made joinery. I am not however a fine cabinet maker although I can pull that sort of work off. For me time is money and producing perfect edged blades doesn’t really matter. If I did I would shell out the £500 one needs to spend in good wet stones. So this tool is very very well priced. Perhaps it’s best selling point. So what are the downsides. Well the biggest for me is that using Japanese chisels which have a single flat with no bevel I find the sharpening diamonds too narrow to cut the whole face of the chisels. This is not a problem with the standard western double bevel chisel. I have noticed that one needs to keep the nylon mechanism clear of swarf otherwise the housings and rods will wear. Generally the action is good but I do sometimes clamp the blade to the sliding bed with a small g clamp especially if doing a lot of cutting work to re set a chisel. Lastly the foils are great for that last polish however I do get confused as to which is which and what’s what. So I have numbered them in pen for ease if recognition. In some ways I would like to see a deluxe version of this in brass and with a hardwood base, with wider sharpening stones, some sort of clamp and maybe a better way of lapping the backs of a chisel. I’ve screwed mine to an oak board so I can clamp it in the vice. In all though a great tool and well worth trying out for the price, simplicity and solid honest results. But if you want high end results, you have a lot of time and post Instagram joints spend 10 times more and buy a microscope. Lastly the maker, Gervase is very attentive and kind chap and his customer service is a joy.

My day job is as a surgeon , and I like sharp tools. SharpEdge is a brilliant re-engineering of tool sharpening which works really well and quickly for most square edge plane blades and chisels. Big chips are still best ground out but with a 90 degree primary bevel the SharpEdge will very quickly cut the secondary, clean off any burs and possibly hone on leather and you are in business. Great tool that makes keeping an edge on tools a pleasure not a chore.All I now have to do is to train my theatre sister to do it for me and life will be perfect.

Had the pleasure of meeting up at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show and seeing the product in action. Having bought my own then and there, I can confrim this is the best chisel shapener I have ever owned. Quick to use, well built with ease of use designed in at a resonable price, this is truely a top tier product. My only regret to purchasing is I now have no excuse to not sharpen all my chisels!

Quite simply a fantastic tool that removes errors from poor technique when honing chisels or hand planes. We were also honored for Gervase to attend to our workshop to demonstrate the Sharp Edge, in a sharpening masterclass. The apprentices were really impressed with the ease of creating and maintaining a consistent clean honed edge and agreed that it was an essential part of their tools.

I've been using the Sharp Edge for a few years now. I have to say, having tried quite a few chisel and plane blade sharpeners out there, this has to be my favourite! It takes all the labour out of honing my tools. Super quick and easy to use with no messy fluids required, I no longer find sharpening a chore!
