King's Theatre
A backstage look at this early 20th century music hall theatre before its much needed £25 million refurbishment in 2021. The project will reduce seat density, level the raked stage to allow dance performances and replace the 100 year old hydraulic jacks used to raise the floor under the front row seats. Backstage will be redeveloped to meet the expectations of 21st century performers.

Always a fab venue so really glad money is being invested into it for an upgrade. I hope they keep the ceiling art! I'd never been to the upper circle before - vertigo! Festival staff were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going back next year after the refurb.

Very elegant, old-style theatre with bar where you can order drinks at interval. Looks a bit run down on the outside and I believe back stage changing rooms for performers are needing some work but the interior decoration and seating for audience is perfectly adequate.

Came here to watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show and absolutely loved it! The cast was unbelievably talented and I loved every second. As for the theatre itself, it’s absolutely beautiful. I loved all the details and artistic touches. Cannot wait to visit again!

Went here for a panto for the Christmas season.The theatre takes you back in time with their heritage architecture and classic displays. We managed to reserve some seats just a few days before and the views from the dress circle weren't too bad actually. Entry was reasonably priced too.The only thing I would say is that it is located on the main street with no ease for parking.

My first visit to this theater and it was amazing. The authentic atmosphere, the art on the ceiling...just breath taking ... plus the current play I attended ...Clueduo... the actors were superb ... very funny and I laughed so much Larry" ...I was glad my first experience was with this play ... I will certainly visit again with other plays...ticketing was online ... smooth getting in and out of the theater ...kudos to the management."

The King's theatre is an amazing and historic building located in Edinburgh City centre. They always have a variety of shows all year round. Definitely a must for any tourists.The bar is expensive but no more than any other similar establishments.Lots of nice restaurants near by too for a pre theatre meal.

Excellent show. Really enjoyed it. Cast multi talented with all signing, dancing and instrument playing cast. (The Lion Witch and Wardrobe)
