I recently had the misfortune of trying the ham salad sandwich from matfen shop, and I must say it was a truly disappointing experience. From the moment it arrived at the counter, it was evident that this sandwich would not live up to expectations.First and foremost, the sandwich was incredibly dry. It lacked any sort of moisture or sauce that could have added flavor and made the overall experience more enjoyable. Every bite felt like munching on dry bread, which was far from appetizing.To make matters worse, the very reason for ordering a ham salad sandwich—the ham—was practically nonexistent. The meager amount of ham hidden between two slices of bread left me wondering if they had forgotten the main ingredient altogether. It was simply inadequate and felt like an afterthought in the sandwich assembly process.The lack of ham ultimately affected the taste. With such a scarcity of the key ingredient, there was no rich, savory flavor to complement the bread or any other components. It left me questioning why I even bothered ordering a ham salad sandwich in the first place.The overall presentation of the sandwich was also underwhelming. It lacked any visual appeal and felt hastily put together. The lack of attention to detail was evident, and it further diminished any hope of finding redemption in its taste.While I understand that taste preferences can vary, it is difficult to excuse a ham salad sandwich that fails on multiple fronts. From the dryness to the scarcity of ham, it fell woefully short of basic expectations.Considering the lackluster experience I had with the ham salad sandwich At matfen shop, I cannot recommend this particular establishment to anyone seeking a satisfying and flavorful meal. There are certainly better options available elsewhere that offer a more balanced and enjoyable dinning experience.

Fantastic change in this idyllic village shop with cafe. This is well worth arranging your day around a stop here for a drink or meal. Clean and bright decor, excellent food and delicious cakes and lots of it, bright and welcoming staff, all you need for a grand day out. Go for it!!

Stopped off to have a coffee and tea, also purchased a caramel shortcake was very good, service was good and you are welcomed by very enthusiastic staff.Purchased some. Corn beef pie and a slice of quiche to take away they were full off flavour and very reasonable prices. Will be returning and I would say it is well worth a visit and very good value for money.

Only popped in for can of pop as we were on our way somewhere else. Staff seemed friendly. Reasonably priced, and clean. The village itself is very nice.

Excellent coffee shop with that village atmosphere, lovely old building and setting. Food was excellent, well priced and service with a smile. Great stuff.

Expensive. Like very expensive. Lovely little shop with loads of potential but had to take out a mortgage for a couple of sandwiches and drinks. Nothing really in the shop anymore. Overall too expensive ( you would sell more at a lower price and actually make more money).

Lovely freindly little cafe with a load of great options to pick from, also has a range of items like beer bred eggs etc for take away. Numberous bike spares and locks so you can resupply when you visit. Would recommend!

It's changed hands recently, altered the floor and opened up the back still really bike friendly, cake still top drawer, and the bacon sandwich is first class
