The hotel is in Hillswick with ample car parking. Good choice at breakfast & evening meals were excellent. Good base to visit other islands, Yell,Fetlar & Unst. Popular with birdwatchers.

What an atmospheric Hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Really enjoyed my breakfasts not forgetting the evening food which was also first class.I highly recommend the enjoyable local walk that goes around the Hillswick headland which has lots of great scenic views and wildlife to take in.We also used this hotel for our base when visiting the Hermaness National Nature Reserve and Muckle Flugga Lighthouse. If you make this trip it's definitely worth pre booking the ferry crossings which will maximise your time at the reserve.

What a discovery.. stumbled over this unique hotel, with a history from Norway's finest design of 120 years sgo. The quality applied by its current custodians is absolutely right. Great hospitality too. Deserves patronage as a fabulous getaway.

Went today to try the carvery for the first time and we were very impressed. Considering the staff shortages being experienced in the hospitality sector, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. Already planning our next Sunday lunch jaunt!Highly recommend!

I give five stars only becuase I can't give ten.Rooms are comfortable, warm and clean (really clean, no old stinking dusty carpets). Bathroom is modern and functional. The food is easily the best I had in the whole holiday and the staff makes you feel like you are at home. Location is great if you look for peace and as a starting point for excursions in the North half of the island. If I will be able to go back to Shetland, this will be where I will stay, no doubt.

My flight out of Shetland got cancelled very late in the evening and the airline scrambled to get everyone accommodations. After a few hours we finally had a place to stay, nearly on the other side of the island at the St Magnus Bay Hotel. They welcomed 8 of us in at nearly midnight with a big smile and totally prepared rooms. When I asked the wonderful proprietor if she had a vending machine as I hadn’t eaten in nearly 12 hours, she sprang into action and made me and the other passengers toast and tea. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. They truly made a very difficult night and situation so much better and I’m very grateful. 5 star service on top of a 5 star hotel (with gorgeous views!).

What an incredibly cool place! Andrea and Paul are amazing hosts with lots of ideas of things to do and places to go on Shetland. Andrea does all the cooking and Paul tends bar. We at dinner there both nights and consumed a wee bit of single malt afterward. The hotel itself is a wonder. Built in another location for a shipping company, it stands out as the only wooden building of any size. It offers a stunning view of St. Magnus Bay and features many walks around the area. Our room was spectacular. We had #24, which is a step above, but worth it. My wife was in love with the tub! Some would say that St. Magnus Bay Hotel is a bit off the beaten path. To them, I would say, why are you going to Shetland if you want to be like everyone else. I would love to stay here again.

A really lovely hotel in a stunning location. The couple who run it are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms have recently been refurbished - we particularly liked the comfy bed and the fantastic breakfast!

Stayed here as part of an organised trip and thought it was wonderful. The location is great and looks onto a gorgeous little bay. If you walk past the little shop (which is also great) you will find some picnic tables to take in the view. Some of the group saw an otter there but I unfortunately didn't but it was still worth walking down. The rooms are modest but fill all your needs. We had food included which was tasty and big portions. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet and was really well stocked. The bar was a nice addition with really friendly staff and locals always up for a chat. Would definitely stay here again and can't wait to come back.
