Pagoda Oriental Restaurant

Beautiful food and all done without the horrible MSG that the Chinese are fond of adding. They also deliver too, the best Chinese in Gateshead!

1st visit here for us despite only living 5 minutes away. Can't fault the service or the decor but it was let down by decidedly mediocre food. We went for one of the set banquet affairs, which consisted of the usual Soup > Duck > 3 Dishes with Fried Rice.The starter was edible,The duck & pancakes were very tasty.The 3 mains weren't good at all.The mains were a Chinese vegetable dish with sesame seeds that was bitter and drowned in a watery Soy Sauce. A chicken and cashew nut dish served in a birds nest. The chicken was anemic, glutenous and lacking in flavour. The sizzling beef in cantonese sauce dish was the best of the three but in all honesty even that was no better than an average take-away.The bill came to approx £45 with a drink each which about what I would have expected to pay, if the food had been of a Stowell Street quality but sadly it was far from it.

We booked a table for fifteen, they made up an oval table so we could all see and chat to each other. All the food was fantastic as was the wine and service. Everyone had a great time

On this specific visit the food was not as expected, no course had any taste. Service was not with a smile!! And 6.50 a bottle of beer when the same bottle is in ASDA for 3 for £5, I know they need to make money but 6.50 a bottle is way over priced. Overall £60 for 2 courses for two people at this slandered of food is way overpriced, very disappointed, will not be returning.

Just had a takeaway delivered from the Pagoda, I had crispy beef Peking sauce and my husband had fillet of beef with mushrooms and onions and it's the best oriental cuisine takeaway we've ever had. We've been to the restaurant too and highly recommend it.

We ate here a week ago and all of us really enjoyed the meal. Food was really good and so was the service. Thought the price was reasonable too for the amount of food we had

4 courses for under £10 (before 8pm), was a bit suspicious about what the quality of the food would be but was proven wrong.Would strongly recommend

Best Chinese takeaway I have had in a long time... delivered in 20 mins and delivery girl very friendly and from the website I see there is no MSG which is great. Will definitely use again

Brilliant value food, don't be fooled by the cheap prices. Really tasty meals and great staff. Well worth a visit, I'll definitely be returning.
