MHA Waterside House - Residential Dementia Care Home
First of all I would say the nurses and day to day care staff at this care home were excellent. , as a family we have no complaints about them. However, I would strongly urge anyone who is considering this care home to look much deeper. They ( MHA) sell this home as a Dementia Care Home ....It is NOT . My father displayed all the most common symptoms of Vascular Dementia and after 11months they said they could no longer cope with him. Truth is this home looks great but they have no where near enough staff and if your loved one does anything other than sit in a chair the Management will tell you they fall into the high care category. They will then hit you with thousands of pounds in what they call "TOP UP FEES They have had a high turn over of staff and the nurses in this home are supervised with what I can only describe as a tyrannical regime. The Management of this home makes an already stressful situation for families worse...PLEASE avoid this home if your family member needs any kind of specialist care you will be wasting time and money and will only add to what we all know is probably one of the hardest decisions to make in life ...putting a loved one into care. Two months on my father has now settled into a new care home

My mom is cared for here, she has dementia. The care staff are very committed and the care is wonderful, and the food is fresh and home cooked there.. Each room has a lovely en-suite bathroom, excellent laundry care and cleaning teams..There are hairdressing facilities and chiropodist visits too. There are many afternoon activities, organised by the activity co ordinators, many are musically based and also a weekly chair based keep fit class Birthdays are celebrated in a lovely manner..There is an optional faith service on a Sunday afternoon which my mom enjoys, led by the chaplain. Families are made very welcome and listened too with regular meetings open to all. As a family we would definitely recommend Waterside House for dementia care.

Before you advertise rooms available you should be able TO KNOW you can care for residents in my opinion you can't, washing is disgusting, there is no one to one care or stimulation, your staff are run ragged and payed next to nothing, your area managers are nothing but a chocolate tea pot who call meeting's but never turn up,I find out today you have reduced the amount of conti pads you are issuing residents, what next are you reducing there food? ?
