Walked from nene Park cat park, about 10 minute walk. It was very beautiful at Woodston Ponds beautiful read beds! I will definitely visit again to further explore, and spot some more wildlife.

We visited in Jan, probably not the best season. Great walk alongside the stream train tracks, lovely walls alongside the ponds. Not stunning, but good for a walk, if you want a breadth of fresh air or walking the dogs

#wildlifebcn.org№ 4. WOODSTON PONDS.The clue is in the name with this one. I've walked past here along the tracks to get to town before and was pretty sure this wasn't here. But it is there, because... We were there. We came here having barely escaped Thorpe Wood alive (see separate review), and we wouldn't have survived the walk through Orton Mere to get here had it not been for The Coffee Guy in the carpark (No review, but he is a hero). So, this place was going to be heaven however bad it actually was.To get here you can walk up the path adjacent to the railway line from Orton Mere. Or if you're adventurer/explorers like us, you can: abandon the path, wander into the makeshift shantytown campsite that lives in the trees beside the river, then re-emerge back on the path anyway. You'll know you've hit a natural beauty spot by the towering electrical pylon next door. Don't be discouraged by the shut and bolted gate. Then, you're in! Like all Wildlife Trust sites, expect a propaganda board (Pictured) detailing all the nature you'd see if you lived on the site for 4 years and chicken-wire boardwalks. Standard. Unlike other sites though, this has Bob's Pond (Pictured). Who is Bob? I don't know but he has a pond named after him so I assume he's great. Sir Bob. He made an amazing viewing platform overlooking his pond (Pictured) but he forgot to fully fill the pond... maybe Bob will return.Empty ponds are a feature because the boardwalk encircles a huge, dry, reed bed. To the East is a lake (Pictured), no mention of it being Bob's Lake and it has water so I assume he played no part in it. There is a little incline leading up to it and a viewing platform but no further access to the lake.Summary:Loved every minute! Relationship saved. Although the tranquillity was disturbed by a suspected sighting of Nigel, that slimy one-eyed horse wants my girl and wants to review all the Wildlife Trust reservations before me. We'll see Nigel, we'll see. F**k Nigel. Nearby railway! The Bob Identity.JB & HE 11/4/21#NatureWalkExperts
