Lovegrove Adventures

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Damien in one of his Tuscany workshops in 2022. Damien and the models he invited are true professionals: knowledgeable, skillful, and relatable. I am very appreciative of him for the fact that he has done a lot of work to spot photo-worthy locations. It is huge! That makes us photographers super happy as we have less things to worry about. I have so much fun shooting, learning, and making new friends. Shooting with Damien was the best decision I have ever made!

Best photography trip I ever went on by a mile and a half. Worth every penny. From unique small western towns to getting stuck in the mud to traipsing through abandoned mines and singing in saloons, the whole thing was a whirlwind adventure. I’m delighted with the 300+ final images I took away from the trip and all the skills and experience gained too. What great fun and great learning! So glad I signed up, and so glad I had the opportunity to shoot with Damien Lovegrove.

I have just spent two days in Tuscany with Damien Lovegrove and Michela making some of the best portraits I have ever made.There are a number of reasons for why this is my third workshop with Damien. But especially one reason stands out.I am fully aware there are other good photographers. I am however convinced there are very few if any who are able to create a relaxed yet serious and creative atmosphere where workshops participants and models are motivated to do their very best to make excellent pictures, to learn, and to have fun at the same time of.Lovegrove is a generous person in every sense of the word and even though he is the “instructor” he is more than willing to listen to ideas to try out new ways and to change the program.The one-hour lightroom follow up session on Teams is a kind of dessert where we discussed the workshop and I got some very useful ideas for how to edit my pictures.I will finally comment the model Michela. Her mature personality, charisma and engagement made a great contribution to two amazing days

I participated in Damien's workshop in Tuscany last September. As a photographer who had been photographing scapes and nature for several years but who was sorely lacking in portrait/model photography experience, I was delighted when the chance to learn this genre from a great master came up and grabbed at it without hesitation.The workshop didn't disappoint. I came away with plenty of photos that I (and many of my photography-circle friends whom I showed them to) like a great deal.The group of participants was kept small. We stayed in a nice villa. Meals were great. And importantly, the photography locations were very well-researched, up to the hour to be at a particular location to catch the sun at the right angle etc.Damien was a good teacher, answering and patiently explaining all the questions we asked him. He was also well-prepared with supporting equipment eg. lights etc. for each of the settings so that our photos would turn out with the special oomph factor. The models he engaged for the shoot were experienced, patient and helpful towards us participants regardless of our experience level.All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable learning experience and I came away with photos what I would never have imagined that I could achieve. I certainly look forward to joining his future workshops again.

Damien & his team offer an excellent service on every level. Everything from exotic location shootings to great 1:1 days. Damien has an expert knowledge & always has tips & tricks to improve the composition of a photo or how the camera can be used more efficiently. His team are always helpful, everything from possible hotels to supplying bespoke photographic equipment.I cannot recommend the Lovegrove group highly enough, they are always my first stop for anything to do with photography.Dave

I attended the 2023 Deserts and Gold Dust USA tour and it was, an amazing adventure.... Nine days with Damien Lovegrove, his assistant Martin, and two first-class models - so surreal and I had to pinch myself often. Damien's planning is impeccable and well thought. When the inevitable hiccup happened (flat tires, getting stuck) they were handled with ease, comradery, and some laughs. Damien, Martin, and the models were a pleasure to travel with, approachable, kind, and carried a spirit of adventure! The group of attendees bonded quickly, and we really enjoyed each others company, with many new friendships. We all made the most of every moment. This trip was so much more than photography, and the photography was exceptional.I can summarize by stating that had I forgotten my camera I would have had an equally amazing adventure!

How do you thank a man who has literally changed your life? Damien’s approach to training goes way beyond camera settings, he makes you see the world differently! An ordinary and seemly boring location becomes an amazing opportunity to make beautiful portraits. The depth of Damien’s knowledge in composition and lighting is truly inspiring. Leaning from his understanding of emotion and the story of the photograph, give you the necessary skills in capturing the very best from the person in front of you. I’ve been on many of his workshops and they can be best described as inspiring, informative and fun, but above all its a life-changing experience. Damien’s style of education needs a vocabulary all of its own and it most certainly goes beyond the word “training”.

When you enroll in one of Damien's workshops you are in for a treat! (I did the Tuscany tour). Damien is a master of light and was openly sharing his knowledge; a kind and patient teacher who held nothing back. Damien pays great attention to detail; he handpicked all the shooting locations and knew the exact timing for the lighting to be perfect. He brought in 2 lovely models, very professional, fun loving girls that went the extra mile to make sure we had all the shots we wanted.On top of this there were all the non-photography things that made the trip stand out, a lovely villa with a chef that cooked us breakfast and dinner, nice bottles of wine and great lunch spots. We learnt during the day and bonded at night, talking photography, life and much more... A truly memorable experience. Note: My husband came as an add-on and equally enjoyed the trip!

I’ve been on many workshops with Lovegrove Adventures over the past 10 years. I’ve been to Spain, France, Germany, the UK, Umbria and Tuscany several times. Each event has been wonderful, the photographs that I’ve shot are fabulous as well.There is always time & space to investigate your own version of an image, but when you get stuck assistance always arrives from Damien at exactly the right time, this cannot be a coincidence! The success of these events is down to a combination of Damien’s enthusiasm and the fine details at the planning stage. The events that I’ve been on have cemented my passion for photography and enriched my life.Many thanks & looking forward to more adventures in the future.Dave.

There are many photography trainers for aspiring and experienced photographers to choose from but there are none that can match Damien Lovegrove for enthusiasm, personality, and talent. I have trained with Damien at his studio near Bristol, travelled to Italy for his destination courses and purchased many books, DVD'S as well camera equipment from the Lovegrove shop. Quite simply Damien as both a photographer and a trainer is peerless. He is a master of technology and composition but with an understanding of light that I have yet to see bettered anywhere. If you are a photographer and never been on one of his courses or at least purchased a DVD then you are missing simply the best training available in the UK today. A read through his blog will demonstrate what a truly generous and talented man Damien is. Supported by an equally talented and supportive family and team Lovegrove Shop is the first and the last place to go to learn the art of photography. Highly recommended.
