Went in to buy a christmas present and the price at the till was double, I said to the cashier its half price on the website. She said I had to prove it , this system is all wrong and needs to be altered from the head office

Albeit there are other stationary stores around WHSmith has quality over price every time. I've grown up always knowing this is the place for quality stationary, school essentials, and a decent pen can be found here - especially fountain pens. Long may they continue, it would be so sad to see another British staple dissappear from the High street.

Hardback fiction half-price. Select two books, go to pay, cashier busy so use self-scan, both books scan at full price with no reduction, have to then go to cashier whose till scans at the correct half-price. Why do the tills scan at two different prices? And how many people have not realised and paid wrong prices? Used to be a good shop - not any more. Seems to be a good candidate for the next company to go into administration.

I am disabled and use a mobility scooter, not a big scooter, Floor design needs to be looked in to, as i usually spend money in there, but since using a scooter, i have to shop elsewhere, as i tried to enter, but the floor and aisles have displays blocked by promotions. Not very disabled friendly, There is a lift, but of no use, when cannot get to it.

Poor Smith's. There's just no point to them now. Their prices are higher on many items and it's now just somewhere to nip in to grab a quick drink because they have no queues compared to other shops. They do have a fantastic magazine selection though.Edit.Returned today to check out some books. Alas the selection is smaller than ever and has now been moved to the upper floor. Seeing the prices on some of the things in there and it's like they aren't even trying to compete.

i was going along my day, looking for a limited edition of a Simon Cowell biography, when a giant rat bit my ankle. i grabbed the book and dragged my fleshwound back home for damage control. i came back the next day, only to face the same vicious rodent again. fresh blood still dripping from its fangs, the smell of horror and paper in the air and famine in its eyes. i turned back and never saw it again. one day i will return, richer in resources and experience. i need to go back. id rather die standing than live kneeling. great book though

I went into their store yesterday evening and after half an hour when I went up to pay for the books. There was no one at store and the till ladies locked the whole store and I was locked inside. I was scared of what happened as there was no indication given of the store going to close while I was downstairs in the book section. I was going to call the police when the ladies from the till came out to put the shutter after 20mins. Pls check if customers are inside before closing a store or make an announcement about it. It was scary !
