Open most days to visitors and for worship and well worth a visit. The tower has a rare decorated Saxon base with a Norman top. Clearly well looked after with a peaceful interior.

A truly unspoilt round towered church in a remote location. Only a mile from the grander St Mary's in Haddiscoe, St Mathias' has more charm. The nave is thatched but the later brick built chancel has a tiled roof. The tower is original with round arched Norman openings and crenelations with chequerboard decoration. Overlooking fields, with sheep and cows in the field next door, this is a rural location but not far from the main road.Just a magic building in which you can feel the history of this small community.

One of my favorite places. A serene little church with a wonderful collection of snowdrops in the graveyard. A space to stop and think.

Little round towered church. Tiny sundial markings on doorway as well as pilgrims scratchings. One of inside windows set in old archway. One oddity is that the church had 2 separate sets of rectors for first 50 years. Tea on some Saturdays. A lot of church mouse droppings.
