Gold winter protection package installed in my 2022 Willerby Waverley. Absolutely first rate service from getting initial quote, answering my (stupid) questions, booking an installation date and carrying out the work. Back in November, when thinking about a frost protection system, I was put off by the cost. Then after the December freezing weather, when frozen external pipes meant I couldn’t use my caravan as I had no water and a neighbour with boiler damage, I decided the initial cost was worth long term peace of mind and confidence I would get full use from my 12 month season. Reliable team, did exactly what they said they would do on the date booked, installation carried out professionally, fabulous neat and tidy work, really easy system to use, simple and quick draindowns and trace heating ready to cut in at the next cold spell. My wife and I own an ABI Harrogate lodge on a boutique holiday park in Northumberland and have been very happy with our purchase. When we bought it in June 2021, we mistakingly believed it was fitted with a frost protection system. However after a 'Beast from the East' weather event in early December 2022 our water pipes froze, damaging our bath mixer and shower taps. We had planned to use the lodge over Christmas and now our holiday was ruined. I was furious with the company running the holiday park as I believed they should have warned us of the possibilities of this event and offered us solutions. However they are more concerned with selling their lodges than looking after the owners. Therefore I decided to conduct some research to prevent this happening again and become independent of the site maintenance team. After extensive enquiries I came across Simon Standerwick and his company Alert Trace Heating and Caraquard. He offers different levels of protection, but we chose the 'Gold' package which full covers us and gives us complete peace of mind. The system is fully automatic and turns off the water supply to the lodge or caravan even if you forget to run it off at the control panel. They fit an ingenious timed water stop tap and heat trace all the pipework. If the external tempreture drops below 4°C the system will automatically kick in and prevent frost damage throughout. Simon and Drew came and spent all day fitting their system and we couldn't have been more pleased with their efficiency, professionalism and care of our lodge. I would urge all caravan and lodge owners to consider fitting this system for that rare occasion where severe weather hits. The cost of repairing the resulting damage far outweighs the cost of the system, not to mention the aggravation and stress of all the inconvenience.
