Back Lane Stables

I want to thank Lily and Back Lane Stables for an amazing experience last Tuesday. I surprised my partner with a riding lesson on his 62nd birthday, despite knowing it would be the first time he had ever sat on a horse. He was rather nervous on arrival but we need not have worried. Lily introduced us to two lovely horses, Gloria and Santini, and in 40 minutes Lily carefully provided instruction on how to mount and dismount the horses, hold the reins, walk and even trot! We had a brilliant morning. Thank you.

My 5 years old daughter never even touched a horse up until 2 months ago as she was afraid. When I brought her to the Back Lane stables, the staff was so friendly and easy going with her, showing her the horse she could ride. She has tried 2 private lessons as advised and she loved it. Now we'll continue with the group lessons. Even if my daughter won't become a horse riding star I'm sure she'll keep wonderful memories of this experience.I like that the stables are clean and there is a café for the parents that are waiting. The staff really enjoys their job and doing it great.

I've been horse riding for over 20 years and been to a few different riding school. This is the best in my opinion as it offers a variety of different opportunities from the basic learning to ride, to hacks out to dressage and jumping lessons etc love it.

I’ve been going to this fantastic stables for a few months now, they really are the best in the business, so friendly, so professional and all such lovely people.I’ve even started taking my daughter for lessons as I wouldn’t trust any other stables with my daughter, if your wanting to learn to ride, then look no further and learn from the best in the business at Back Lane Stables.Many thanks to you all, I enjoy every minute learning from you all.Craig & Holly

You can't book by phone or online. We had to come and book on the spot. Payment is accepted only in cash, I had to go for cash. We booked horse riding more than a month later, with no receipt or notice. Today it turned out that the lesson should have been yesterday. I remember the date exactly, my daughter remembered the date exactly (the nearest day was 21.11), but we have no proof because the Back Lane Stables staff do not give any confirmation of the reservation. Only a pencil entry in their journal that only they can see. Very disappointing experience.

My daughter was so happy to start riding again after Covid , I’m new in the area and I thought was an amazing place for her to restart … well unfortunately my daughter got temperature the day before so I did call straight away 17h before the lesson to cancel the appointment explaining that she got sick … well .. I didn’t like the way we been treated… the answer was cold and an aspected… I’m afraid you need to pay the lesson anyway because we require 24h notice and than I explained I called straight away … but no way … was the first time for us I didn’t sign any policy yet and I didn’t know … but they way I been treated made me mad … is it all about money ??? Was our first time in this place they will not see us anymore… Very disappointed

I come here regularly but since covid they have gotten super busy, think they need to do more classes and reduce the class sizes as they are too big to get a good session out of 1 hour with that many people in one class. I have mentioned it so hopefully they will take it on board. The horses are lovely, all have their own personality!

I can highly recommend Back Lane Stables. It is always nerve racking starting at a new Riding School but I found all the staff extremely welcoming and professional. The standard of teaching is exceptional without being intimidating and I have learned so much in only 3 lessons. They offer a superb variety of classes and activities at very reasonable prices and I am very much looking forward to trying them all. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking for more advanced training - adult or child - Back Lane will have a class for you and from my experience you will you not be disappointed.
