Yum Bun - Seven Dials Market
Not my favorite baos. Or even second favorite, unfortunately. The buns were a 3/5 on a fluffiness scale and while the contents were okay (shout out to the chicken), the sauce felt pretty mayonnaise-esque and was not my fav (and this is coming from a Mayo gal). I’ll be back to try more but my initial tryout was lackluster.

I was excited to try some food from this highly reviewed establishment. However, it left me very disappointed. I ordered the duck gyōza, which was a good portion size (6) and they were well cooked with a nice crispy exterior. However, the filling was terrible. I can only describe it as a brown, flavourless mush. It lacked texture, flavour and authenticity. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Yum Bun - Seven Dials Market
Visited the Seven Dials market and came across Yum Bun. It had a lot of people around waiting to give order and that’s what caught our attention and we decided to try it out!We tried their seaweed fries and trust me they were nothing like the regular ones. The fries were very crispy and were spiced perfectly. It was not too spicy but had the proper taste. These fries were literally addictive. We then ordered the crispy veg gyoza and mushroom gyoza. Both were finger licking good. In my personal opinion, being a mushroom lover, the mushroom gyoza made my tummy happy. We even tried the Tofu buns which had a huge fried piece of tofu, different sauces and veggies in it. It was a very healthy and lip smacking bun with good garlic flavour ! Last but not the least was the cherry blossom and lychee iced tea. Trust me when I say this is hands down the best iced tea I have ever had. The tea had a hibiscus flower in it which was giving a so refreshing taste. It was a blend of the jasmine tea, lychee and hibiscus flower. This ice tea literally energised us for the rest of the day and it was literally something out of the world. Everything here was so delicious that I would recommend to try all of this possible! Definitely it’s worth a visit!!

Year Update: went back the vegan bao are feather light and Still delicious. Old post:!!!!Delicious and not too heavy tofu vegan bao bun! The seaweed fries were a treat too. The atmosphere in seven dials market is lovely with so much to choose from but I'm definitely going back to yum bun. Only request is they have vegan chilli sauce for those of us who like it spicy. Reasonable pricing too.

Delicious veggie tofu bao and gyozas. If you’re looking for veg food at Seven Dials, eat here! But also the tofu bao is so mouthwateringly good, you don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy it.Order at the counter, pay, pickup your buzzer and find seating. The food was ready within minutes.

Excellent service from the gentlemen at the till Daniel. We asked if the chicken was halal and he was honest enough to tell us there could be a chance of cross contamination but offered to cook us a fresh one and fresh salad to avoid this. Not seen that kind of honesty or service anywhere else. Food was great but 5 stars is mainly earned from the service

Downstairs at 7 dials you will find a bao bun joint serving gyozas (two, crispy, nice taste, would have been great with dip) a slaw (fresh and crunchy) and two bao buns stuffed with a marinaded pork belly or fried chicken for £11.50 if you want a lunch time special. It’s quick, grab a seat and wait for a buzz.
