This large mural of a magpie accompanied by a reel of thread, a button and a needle is a private rather than a publicly-funded mural in a public place. It was painted at the behest of the owners of the building it is on.This used to be a knitting and hosiery mill for many years until the firm went out of business and, after it stood empty for some years, it was converted into inner-city accommodation.The mural is referring to the building's history.
