We bought a car from these guys a year ago with a fresh MOT which when they put it through the MOT it had failed on several things that they had “fixed/replaced” to pass the MOT, the car had other issues in the initial months that they had to look at and “fix” .. a year later Having done round 10k miles the car went in for its MOT and we was shocked to find out it had failed.. on the exact same things it had failed and had replaced the previous year. Upon speaking to the MOT tester he advised me the car still had all factory original parts on and he was 110% confident no parts had ever been replaced. Upon contacting the dealership to mention this to them and expressing my concerns that my partner had been travelling in a car for a year with the 4 kids in it that wasn’t road worthy the owner who spoke to me on the phone started getting defensive and suggesting that the parts could have failed because we had done 10k miles but I clearly stated that the MOT tester told me the parts were factory original and had never ever been changed or touched he then denied it all and wouldn’t provide us with any invoices for the work that had been carried it. Im having getting legal advice from citizens advice and have contacted trading standards and DVLA as to how the MOT the dealership used had passed the car when the repairs had never been carried out so basically a dodgy MOT.I’d recommend anyone buying from this garage to have someone they know at a garage go over the car to make sure it’s all safe and road legal even if they’ve put a fresh MOT on it.It’s 0/5 stars from me.

Excellent, honest, and quick buying experience from Pontings of Banbury.Pontings of Banbury is located on the south side of Aynho Road (B4100); currently Google Maps is showing it on the north side.

Bought a car. Nice car but Not sure the about the service and MOT it was Given. I Had it less than a week.. Took it to a garage and gave it fresh service as I always do for saftey for older cars I and good job I did. It needed complete new brake pads as the front pads were almost on the metal and rear ones also bad. Deemed not safe . Also had fitted a new brake warning light as it did not work so I had no warning Indication that the brakes needed replacing. Went back to pontings and told them what happened. All they seem to worry about was I should of taken it back to them to sort it out. Not sure I would of trusted them as the MOT and service they arranged did not flag any problems or advisories. They offered half of what it cost to fit the brakes only. Not the best. Felt a bit let down.

Do not buy a car from these people!First of all we paid way over the odds for this car as we were assured it was “bullet proof” and in exceptional condition! When we walked onto the courtyard we informed these conmen that we were just starting out a new business venture and we would be 100% reliant on this vehicle or we would not be able to make an income. Rather than do the right thing and be honest they decided to sell us a car that has failed and they are not willing to take ownership and put the issue right leaving us in a very bad position financially. As a fellow independent business owner I am just saddened that it has come to this in a world of multinational corporations we should be supporting each other not ripping each other off! These guys are the reason that people think used car salesmen cannot be trusted. We purchased a car which had a loose fog light. We were told that it would be repaired. On the day of collection the lamp had been wedged into position and had already started to fall off again when we arrived. After a light nudge to check the stability of what I could clearly see was a bodged job it fell off again. We were then told the car would be sent to a repair shop where a replacement part/clip would be fitted. What actually happened is that the light was glued into position and during a recent foggy spell we found out that it points directly into the eyes of on coming drivers thus rendering it a hazard and useless!A few weeks later we nearly have a catastrophic accident on the motorway while visiting family in the north. The vehicle now surges and stalls whilst driving at speed! It has become a death trap. After having a family member hook the car up to an OBD2 diagnostic machine we found that the car has a failing fuel pump. We informed Pontings to which we were met with a very disturbing choice in order to have this problem rectified under the warranty they promised. Our options were simple they would come and collect the vehicle for £300! (Funny how the cost of a new fuel pump fitted is just less than this figure).Or we make our own way to them. After my very emotional partner got off the phone with this band of clowns she was shocked to find that they were willing to let us risk our lives to drive the vehicle back for them to “have a look”.What an absolute mess. These guys are as crooked as they come and I don’t know how they live with themselves or sleep at night.I’m also very disturbed on how they were able to have an advisory wiped from an existing mot.The brakes are pretty badly pitted and warn and there was a rear tyre very close to the legal limit. Both listed on previous mot. They assured us that the car would come with a clean mot with no advisories once purchased. We assumed that these problems may be looked at for how could they just be erased from an mot but no!They were simply not noted by the mechanic they use for all their stock. So the car came with a clean mot but still had issues. So just to be safe we have reported the aforementioned mechanic to VOSA.Also don’t be fooled by the chap who talks of the owner and makes out he is merely an employed salesman trying to make a living.A quick Companies House check revealed that he is actually the proprietor. If anyone at Pontings chooses to contact us to resolve our issues and redeem themselves we will look at removing this review as you pride themselves on your reviews.Email will suffice as paper trails are very important. If you as a customer are reading this then take heed to the above.

Initially, good but potentially possibility of all going pear shaped! Bought Ford Focus, drove home, noticed gearbox problem. AA confirmed it. Talked it over with family lawyers who suggested going on the offensive re consumer law. Did that, but then Philip (the owner), got upset about the aggressive tone of my emails on the advice of the family lawyers. However, the stand-off is now going to be resolved by two honorable adults having a chat, without the lawyers. Thus, my assessment of the garage is that,:-1) Our experience is atypical. Too many cooks in the kitchen.2) A simple phone call could have fixed the problem, but I was advised against it on a legal basis. So, after all this angsts, my view of this garage is that it is run by an honorable team, perhaps requiring better IT input about emails, but honest people supplying good quality vehicles. ( AA examination reported, that apart from the gearbox issue- which to be honest could only have been spotted after an extended test drive, the car was excellent for its age). Thus going to return the car for a full refund. Would I buy from this garage in the future? Definitely yes. No one has a crystal ball in the second hand car market!

Philip stood with us while the car we were originally planning on getting ran into some unexpected problems AFTER we fully paid for it and took it off the lot. We came back and he was willing to get it repaired, but more problems arose and he took it to the garage. He was very communicative during the process and took great care of us until he fully refunded us the car and road tax with no questions and no hassling. This is after he picked us up and dropped us off multiple times to and from the dealership to when we needed a ride and was transparent and honest the whole process. He then offered a new car at a discounted price, extended test drive, and we loved it and we made a deal right there. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them and would highly recommend giving them a look!

Cannot fault the way they treat you during the sale. If I had no other issue this would be 5 stars. They told me they serviced my Hyundai before purchase, I had to return to get a stamp in the book. Which they were friendly and accommodating. Subsequent emails asking for an invoice of sorts to put with the vehicle history were ignored. I changed the air filter myself which was black and the cabin filter which was full of debris, leading me to question, was the vehicle was actually Serviced or even inspected by a professional prior to sale?
