Design A Cake

Great Shop for all kinds of Cake and sugarcraft needs. Very well laid out and clearly priced. Very competitive prices. Found all I was looking for and inspiration for future projects.

Design a cake are now one of the very few places in the North East where you can visit and buy supplies direct . They are a wonderful resource for products, design ideas, and advice. I have been ‘cake icing’ for many years but still need up to date advice ! The staff were absolutely brilliant offering support to help me complete a large wedding cake order. I truly could not have managed without them. Thank you Design a Cake for the amazing service!

Visited today, practically nothing on the shelves, looked like they are closing down. Very very sparse 'range' of fondant colours, icing tips, cake dummies, no cupcake containers, random Halloween, Christmas rubbish on clearance. I ended up putting the 2 things I needed back because they didn't have the other 10 things I wanted. Unfortunately I will have to shop online and not support small local business (which I am one of) otherwise I would not be able to get anything. Over heard one of the staff saying online was taking over and I understand the pressures from online stores and cash flow issues but you need to have a reason for customers to visit, otherwise there is no business, it's cyclic no stock, no customers, no money to buy said stock with...no customers, no business.

Visited 31st May hardly any stock and sounds like the shop is closing down and shopping online will be the only way to get products. This is such a shame as an amateur cake decorator it was always nice to go and get advice from very helpful staff then buy the products. Online is ok if you know what your want but if colours are needed it is better to see in the flesh so to speak as computer colours aren't always what they are in real life!!!! Absolutely gutted

Staff are very helpful in the shop and I've also sent emails with questions regarding cake decorating very prompt reply explaining what I needed to do, love the shop feel at ease walking around and sometimes I'm just browsing not buying, always buy from design a cake for my utensils colourings etc.

Visited today for some flowers to add to a wedding cake, what should have been a lovely experience was tarnished by the clear disinterest and unhelpfulness of the staff, had obviously interrupted a 'chat' with someone to ask for advice which was our first mistake. It was downhill from here on!! I will say it started with who I think is the manager and all through the staff, so at least poor manners is consistent throughout.My advice to anyone is buy online as you will be guaranteed a better service.You would expect better when the shop was practically empty, clearly good customer service is an alien concept.

Always very helpful when I have a query. Items always turn up on time and if anything is out of stock, I have always been notified. Good value for money too and I can even go as far to say that the DPD driver could not be more helpful.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There's always a great range of products available.

Placed an order yesterday ( Friday ) to be delivered to me in the Lake District, I received a message to say my order would be delivered on Monday, which I thought was brilliant.Received another message this morning ( Saturday ) to say my order would be delivered today between 11.30 & 12.30, I had my order before midday, fantastic service from start to finish, the lady I dealt with on the phone ( sorry I have forgotten her name) was lovely and really very helpful, I normally visit the shop when I am home in the North East, but as I was at my caravan I decided to order what I needed over the phone.I would certainly recommend the delivery service, I will certainly use it again.Thank you Design a Cake for fantastic service.
