The Dapper Duck
A quaint little spot in the heart of Markeaton Park! What a gem we have found, just 5 mins walk from the park. The coffee shop courtyard is clean, welcoming and tables are plentiful. Staff and friendly and attentive. Great selection and milk alternatives available. Iced coffee and carrot cake are highly recommended! Dog friendly and great value. We will return, thank you!

This small cafe is a bit of a odd duck, but in a good way. Their menu choices are interesting, the cakes look great, but for example they don't serve scones. However I was there for the full English, which was really nice, though with some slight curveballs in their ingredient choices. Their bacon was streaky rather than back and cooked medium rather than crisp, their toast came pre buttered, the sausages were chippolatas and the tomato was a small vine ripened type. The hash brown was properly crispy though and the food overall pretty tasty. There is clearly someone in the kitchen who can cook, but the breakfast was good rather than great.

What a great place. I had a baguette filled with halloumi, roasted vegetables, and houmous, and it was delicious. It came with sweet potato fries that were probably the best I've tasted. Good cup of tea too.The service is fast and friendly and prices are very reasonable. The menu has a good selection of food and drinks, with some vegetarian options but no vegan although I've no doubt they would be willing to russel up a vegan meal if asked. It's a lovely cafe on a quiet road near Markeaton Park and well worth a visit. There are plenty of tables inside and a few tables outside at the rear, which is a real sun trap.I will definitely be going there again.

The food and coffee at the Dapper Duck are great and the team there are lovely and friendly. You can take your dog in which is perfect after a walk in the park.

SUCH incredible service and lovely people, not to mention the food! Wow! We stumbled upon this place today and will certainly be back soon. The Mediterranean brunch is delightful and the coffees are excellent. This place is charming and 100% worth the visit! We came with the dog and they were very dog friendly

Very nice. Good food, nicely presented and not stinting on anything. You'd find cheaper I'm sure, but I'll doubt you'll find better for the price. The only downside is parking. I suspect that 'Duck' has some connection with the garden centre next door. If that's the case, please can we park in there and have it made clear this is okay?

Brilliant staff. Friendly and welcoming with exceptionally good service. I arrived 40 minutes prior to closing and they were still happy to serve food. I had the oriental brunch which was incredible! They present you with a variety of food in their oriental brunch on a sizeable plate. Everything was fresh and individually cooked to absolute perfection. The food was tasty and flavourful across the board. The Sujuk and the roasted pepper were a highlight for me. And even the hummous was quite special. The bread tasted like it was freshly baked. You should try dipping bread in hummous. It's a classic way to enjoy it. Everything they serve must have been home-made given the taste and quality. A memorable meal indeed and I do not say this very often. The outdoor patio area is lovely. Bright (weather permitting) and green. The atmosphere inside is also lovely with plenty of seating.I enjoyed the taste of coffee which was smoothed out.I very highly recommend this gem of a café near Markeaton park. I will be coming back with family and friends.Parking: I parked in Markeaton Park. There are a couple of car parks in Markeaton park. The closest one to the the cafe is the one next to the Mundy Play Centre. After entering the Mundy Play Centre car park, drive along to additional parking spaces (Follow the sign). Once you park in the additional parking spaces area, there is a dedicated pedestrian exit you can use. If you take a right after the pedestrian exit, you'll reach the exit gate of the park. Walk ~30 yards past the gate and the cafe will be on your left-hand side. It's probably a 60 second walk from the car park to the café.
