Winfield Hospital

A wonderful stress free experience! Cataract surgery performed by Mr Ferris who was informative, kind & answered all my questions. The Winfield staff were lovely & caring. I was very anxious but they put me at ease from start to finish. I am due my second cataract procedure in a month & I have no anxiety going forward now, & that is down to all the staff involved in my care at the Winfield Hospital. Thank you x

My Wife recently had surgery here which to be fair was good, as were the staff.However the room was tired, the food poor and the comms, don’t get me started.I have complained but that won’t alter what we received, it will be the Nuffield in future.Winfield, pls don’t comment saying for me to contact you, use the survey form I completed.

Unfortunately after being referred more than 3 years ago from vale hospital they have only just recently contacted me for a consultation. Last week they phoned me to say they had a list of appointments and I would receive a letter stating what day it was, I never received the letter and was told nothing over the phone. Not even an apology for leaving me so long. The day before they wanted me to show up I had a very rude phonecall telling me that if I didn’t show I would have to wait, I was backed into a corner to accept the appointment and asked for an email or letter to show my boss as proof considering it’s been 3 years, to which I was met with an attitude from the call handler, I received the letter about my appointment after it had already gone passed the date, when I phoned up to sort this out I was told there’s nothing they can do and I will now have to wait again, for someone to call me, for the appointment they are yet to reschedule for something I again have been waiting over 3 years for. I still haven’t spoken to a professional and quite frankly am disgusted with the way I was handled over the phone like it was a chore to send confirmation and it’s my fault they forget patients for years…Edit: still no phonecall days on from when I was told someone would phone me by the end of the day (tues 26th/09/23)

Lots of parking available. Friendly efficient receptionists. Bright and airy waiting room with lots of seating. I went for a follow-up appointment. My charming specialist was running on time. He checked my wrist and gave me a painful but effective injectiontion and I was on my way in under 20 minutes. I don't often use the private sector for health care, but pain can be a great incentive. Well worth investing in my health on this occasion. I was able to book an appointment in a short space of time and am now able to resume my normal activities.

Recently had my right hip replacement carried out by Mr Curwen and his team.My experience from arrival to discharge was first class.

£100 parking fine to collect my wife after her operation. 7/7/22Can't fault the care my wife has had with a recent procedure but received a fine of £100 fine for parking for collecting her.Apparently I should have entered my reg details at reception. No one mentioned this to me on arrival and I was obviously concerned about my wife's wellbeing.It's a real shame and we can't help feeling stitched up and there's a bit of a scam going on.Very disappointed.

Absolutely appalling patient care.First let down with an appointment to see a specialist consultant on the day. Persuaded to pay to see their own GP even though I had a GP referral before I can see specialist consultant, their GP recommended urgent scan, 2 days later fobbed of to go to my NHS GP and push them to sort out. Unfortunately I have had to seek advice from various specialists due to my current health.I would highly recommend this hospital. The staff are very nice, polite and generally really helpful, unlike other hospitals and surgeries.I would also highly recommend Dr Wakerley. Out of approximately 20 other appointments I have had with other doctors in the past 3 months, I felt Dr Wakerley provided me with a high quality of service. As an example, he was the only doctor to actually ask if ‘I was happy with the advice he had provided’.

This parking issue seems to have been on for a while. Just annoyed I didn’t check out the reviews before. How’s one supposed to know about entering the reg at reception if they weren’t told. Not handing out £100 fines in this economy.Edit..So I reached out as per my initial review response and I must admit the issue was professionally handled and resolved without me paying any fine. First mistake was not ensuring patients awareness with regards the registration at reception, next one could’ve been not reaching out to find a resolution before paying the charge, one I’m glad I didn’t make.

Recently had foot surgery at the Winfield, Gloucester, from start to finish, my care was excellent. All the staff from entering the reception to my consultant Mr Hutt were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, excellent care. Would highly recommend.
