Good: Good initial service during ordering. Happily helped me change my order sizing to reduce shipping cost.Bad: Everything else. Ordered floorboards. The wood arrived soaking wet, clearly unseasoned. During drying, I uncovered a fungal infestation which took weeks to eradicate. Then the dimensions!! If I order a 115mm face for tongue and groove, and you advertise 115mm, I expect 115mm. Not 116mm, not 114mm, and CERTAINLY not 112mm. Same for the thickness! I ordered 18mm, and apparently that means 22mm in their world.This wasn't a custom cut either. This is a standard off the shelf product. Which means, this is just what the company think is acceptable tolerance. It's 2023. That's not good enough!Not recommended. Do not buy timber from this company if size is important.

Always brilliant, helpful and polite.Just to add a couple of years on, I'm still using Smiths. The website development has been brilliant, online ordering and local delivery works very well. Also helpful to check stock before driving down for in the moment purchases. Couldn't be better.

I was recommended Smiths by a neighbour and I’m extremely pleased with the four 6x6 fence panels. For the price they were really good quality and were actually delivered within hours of me placing my order due to them being in my area that day! I will never go anywhere else now. Ordered 48 2x1s and about 30 treated tongue and groove boards with the cutting service. Almost 200 cuts to be made. Tommy was professional and very helpful going through the cut-list. The cutting process (carried out by Matt) was millimeter perfect and the whole order was delivered within 48 hours. Wood was great quality. Couldn't have asked for more. Brilliant service.
