Castle Ward Caravan Park
This is a great spot for everyone.Have been twice and will be back again soon with my motorhome. The staff are so helpful from the moment you check in, explain the area and the walks etc.We couldn't attend a booking in March due to ice and they changed it with no bother at all even though they didn't have to.Great pitches with electric and water and it's a great location for walks into the forest and around castle ward and only 20 minute walk to Strangford. The shower / toilet block is spotless and even a laundry area of required.Highly recommend.

Amazing spot. Here a few times and it just gets better. Bringing a bike is a must. The harbour nearby is stunning for some sea swimming. It’s a call into work sick so you can stay longer type of place.

Lovely location. Greeted on the first day by a very pleasant lady who was very helpful. Good access to toilets, etc. Nice walks close by. However one thing that really irked me. 2 days there was no warm water- I had to take at best luke warm shower, took me an hour of blasting my heat in the caravan to get some heat back into my shivering body! Apparently the warm water runs out and you have to wait sometimes for half an hour.. wish someone had told me this beforehand. Another day the showers had broke, which is fair enough these things happen. But for £35 a night I expect better. I hear the place is under new owners, you can’t half tell. Half an hour for using the washing machine and an hour in the tumble drier was £11. Owners had best buck up their ideas and stop taking customers for granted, otherwise this place will go down the tubes.

We’ve stayed here a few times in our camper van and absolutely love it. The toilets are spotless and we always get a lovely welcome when we arrive. The last time we were here the weather was beautiful and the site was very busy. When we left to go home on the Saturday morning there was quite a queue for the ferry which went back through the village beyond The Cuan restaurant. While we were in the queue a very angry woman came up to us and told us that she was a local and couldn’t get to work because of people like us! I asked her where she suggested we go as our camper van hasn’t got a levitation device. She said we should park in the car park by the ferry but we couldn’t do that firstly because of the query and secondly because it was full of tractors as there was a rally on that day. To our amazement she then pulled across the road and parked her car up a side road and opened up the barbers shop right next to here she parked. We’d assumed she was waiting for the ferry!Very off putting to be accosted by this woman and and I’m sure local businesses don’t need people like her being rude and aggressive to visitors. People sitting outside the Cuan said to us that they couldn’t believe how she spoke to us.Won’t put us off using the site and not their fault but a horrible experience.
