I usually have Larissa as my dentist who in my opinion is the best dentist ever. However, with Larissa being on holiday, I used another dentist today as my filling broke off and I had a 30 minute appointment booked as it needed doing. This new dentist saw me 20 minutes late , looked at my tooth and asked if I wanted silver (NHS) or white (private) filling to which I replied that I wanted silver. I was then told I had to book another appointment this all happened in 3 minutes…even though I had a 30 minute appointment as the lovely receptionist knew that I needed a new filling. Never been more disappointed with a service before. Just to clarify, never once have I ever had to or wanted to complain about Larissa, but the dentist I saw today was very disappointing. In fact I’d rather wait for Larissa to come off holiday than see the one I saw today. Not happy at all!

I’m a very nervous patient. Not just the ‘I don’t like the dentist’ kind, I’m the ‘panic attack on the waiting room’ kind. My first appointment with Mohammed was for a check up but I knew I needed work doing. I ended up needing a root canal on a chipped tooth at the front which was my worst nightmare! From the moment I stepped in Mohammed and his assistant Lisa made me feel at ease. He was super patient and told me everything he was doing, which massively helps with my anxiety. The final result looks amazing and I’m super happy that after years of having a chipped tooth and being too afraid to have it sorted, it’s finally fixed!I even struggle to just call the practise but they have been fantastic communicating with my partner for appointments and payments. I still don’t like going but I feel now that at least I’m in good hands.The prices aren’t too bad either for private dental treatment.

Worst experience ever at a dentist. I am normally under the site station road (I am a private patient) but after this, I never want to step foot into a MyDentist ever again. On the Thursday I called my usual dentist to ask for an emergency appointment due to severe tooth ache. I was initially told to call 111 because they have no appointments or dentists. I called 111 and they said that they can’t help me because I am registered with a dentist and they have a duty of care as they are open and it’s not a weekend. I again called station road who put me through to a manager who arranged an appointment on the Saturday with a dentist named Ashref Abughofa at the Westbrook site. It was explained that although I was a private patient, because of the contract at the Westbrook site, they could only charge me NHS rates.Initially when I arrived at the Westbrook site, there was already a patient being seen. As she left, she said that she didn’t want to book follow up treatment because of the expense and she would get treatment in her own country. Once this was relayed to Ashref Abughofa in his room, he began to complain loudly about the patient and the money he was getting for working that day. He moaned about the fact that he had to see NHS patients especially on a bank holiday weekend and he wasn’t getting enough money for treatment and how people don’t want to spend money. He spoke very loudly, enough for me to hear in the waiting room.Eventually when I was called in, I could already sense he was not going to treat me at all. I explained that I had had a filling a couple of weeks before but now my pain was quite severe. He examined me very roughly then began to berate me standing with his arms crossed. He said “why didn’t you sort this out before you were pregnant” , “we can’t do anything while you are pregnant, we can’t do x-rays or root canal, even extractions are difficult when you are pregnant” “you should have sorted this before you were pregnant”. When I said I didn’t realise the decay was that bad on my back teeth, he snarled “you didn’t know? You didn’t know?” And turned away from me. I’ve never been spoken in such a derogatory way in my entire life. I was pregnant for most of last year, I lost my son after being born prematurely and I’ve been on four dentist waiting lists in my area for 7 months. My dentist was the first one that called back. He said the only thing they can do is prescribe antibiotics and I needed to call my own dentist the following Tuesday. I left that office sobbing in pain and humiliation. The next day, I couldn’t open my mouth due to the pain. I managed to find a private dentist in Manchester (who was phenomenal) had x-rays and root canals done. The dentist confirmed that what Ashref Abughofa had said about no x-rays or treatments during pregnancy is inaccurate. I also spoke to my obstetrician who confirmed the same (X-rays and root canals are perfectly safe) and said that due to the level of infection, it’s unlikely oral antibiotics would have been effective and could have resulted in miscarriage if I’d left it until the Tuesday.I’ve never been treated as appallingly as that dentist treated me. If he doesn’t want to see NHS patients, nothing is stopping him from opening a private practice. I’m assuming the reason he can’t is because the training he’s received is so outdated, that he thinks that women in pregnancy shouldn’t / can’t receive dental care. Please do better.

I have always felt that the staff will go out of their way to get you an appointment. Friendly comfortable environment with professional and courteous staff who are keen to advise and update you. Top class dentist.
