Ok, the reviews are a bit over the top, I have lived in Cowes for years and have been in this bakery many times. It is a unique bakery with unique staff, in a good way but I didn’t go in for the staff, I went with my wife last week to have a hot bacon cobb with a cuppa and they were BLOODY LUVERLEY. If you take the reviews seriously and don’t go, you will miss out, which is fine cos it leaves more bacon cobs for us!

Visiting the IOW from Hants.Rude, rude, very rude woman gatekeeper.Would have ordered bacon butty and coffee, but was cut short by the woman who had clearly not thought that customers who are insulted will leave and eat elsewhere.Now I understand why this business gets so many bad reviews, although I believed I should give them the benefit of the doubt. High time the IOW Tourist Board had a word with them.

I don't recognise some of the low ratings because we found the shop to be welcoming and the portions to be great. We purchased rolls and coffee; and ate them outside the front of the store. We also purchased cake but were too full to eat it. Whilst eating, the cinnamon wafted outside. If you are in Cowes and fancy a bread product, give this place a go.

The place has mixed reviews, so felt the need to pitch in.First of all, it's a lovely place. Authentic, down to earth, simple in all the right ways. Really enjoyed a scone here (biggest I have ever had), and liked that they serve it a little differently.As far as the lady goes, I have a normal pleasant interaction. She does seem like she is being her real self, and that's something I respect.Either way, I highly recommend this place. Don't be deterred by the score.

The most amazing bakery on the island!The bread and cakes on display were simply mouth watering.The lady was genuine and very kind in her own way, she teated us nicely and joked with us.Of course the cakes were the most remarkable thing! We ordered carrot cake and short bread and despite the huge portions, we could have eaten a second round!Highly recommended!

Looks lovely and the cakes are great, with a very good selection, but the service was so poor. Very rude and abrupt from the woman in the shop - like she just didn’t want us there and it was an inconvenience to serve us. Such a shame as this could be a four or five star review. The chap who served us at the end and cleared the table was lovely and full of chat... really just don’t understand why the woman is so unwelcoming?

Have been to many bakeries, some amazing and some ok, but unfortunately this one stands out as one with very poor pastries. So disappointed as the products from the outside of the place look very inviting and where the word artisan" is used outside

We've been coming here over several years and love the food. The lady is a character but always comes up trumps. I particularly like the giant blueberry scones and the pastries are always a huge hit with the family.

Served by the rudest woman I have ever met in retail as I made the mistake of sitting on a chair outside to drink my takeaway coffee! Also the whole meal bread I bought was mouldy, which I only noticed when we got back to our boat. Don’t waste your money at this place
