Pretty good depends on the day and your luck. But the place should be amazing but actually the staff have already cherry picked the good stuff and made their own baskets and it’s in their car. Which is fine, but then don’t act like your working voluntary.

Staff are happy, polite and genuinely appear pleased to see you.I have made numerous visits to The Real Junk Food Project back in late 2019 and early 2020, after 2-3 visits the wonderful staff at the door explaining how their system works, remembered my name. It was just a small personal touch that made you feel welcome and in the occasions where I was on a tiny budget, it also felt like somebody did care that times were tough. It's not like shopping in a big supermarket, it's not possible to go with a list e.g. bread, milk, cheese, cornflakes, onions, carrots. I'm not saying they won't have these products because they might but, they may not and so being flexible, I found was the key to making this pl ace work for myself and my family. Once the expectations and anxieties I had were eliminated and I looked at it unbiased, it turned into a great way for me to save money and also save food from being wasted, thrown away when there's nothing wrong with it. In the 80's and 90's when I was growing up, we were taught not to waste food, make the most of everything and having a huge drop in income in the last 12mths has meant I have relied heavily on those beliefs and using The Real Junk Food Project really helped with that. Thank-you to everyone who help by donating left over/surplus food and other household essentials and the staff that run the project, Stay safe, hoping to be back soon. x
