Carsington Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite
we have just come back from a beautiful 14 nights stay in our caravan. the toilets and showers were always clean and the staff are very friendly and happy to help in anyway they can.. the last couple of nights we were there wasn't very pleasant with the noise of slamming doors until11pm but overall it was very quiet..not sure where there was a notice up in the toilets about the 10pm onwards quieting down times.. Monday morning a coffee and pancake van turns up and pizza, burger and fish and chips van on separate days of the week which are well worth eating and enjoying! Plenty of leisurely walks of the surrounding countryside..

This is our 1st time at Carsington site and what a gem, the site is well laid out with lots of space and pitches for large motorhomes (9 mtrs) . The facilities are good as you would expect and clean, the grass is well kept as is the site. Wardens are so friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. This won't be our last visit!

A really lovely campsite, our first night away testing out our new caravan to see what we needed. There was even a mobile pizza place that came which was great, so had a lovely garlic bread to compliment our BBQ.

A very well kept site, pitches are of good size for most popular units.Nice clean toilet/shower block.Site nicely tree surrounded giving than back to nature feelOne of the best dog walking areas I've seen on site.Nice walk down to Carsington reservoir saving on parking fees. The reservoir is a great day out for walking or cycling.Site has some super take a way vendor's on certain days. The best we thought was the unit Monday morning 0830 to 1030hrs selling croissants/pancakes etc, we had a cheese & bacon turn over, very delicious.

The Carsington Water Caravan and Motorhome site is a great example of what The C&M does. There are lots of cheaper sites in the area, but you do get what you pay for.Set in a stand of mature evergreen trees, on a sloping slice of the landscape, the site is divided into four flat areas. The largest of these is nearest to the amenities block with the others nested in the trees further up the hill. The road to access the higher level areas is tarmac'd and in reasonable condition. The slope isn't dreadful, but wheelchair users or less able people may be more comfortable using the pitches around the amenities block. The site is close (10 minute walk) to the trail that runs around Carsington Water. The amenities block is large, heated with plenty of toilets, showers and wash rooms along with an in-door dishwashing area and small laundry facility. Everywhere is very clean, well maintained and in excellent condition. Even though the site was busy, the facilities always had capacity and no one ever had to wait.Overnight the site is generally very quiet, but aircraft can be heard into the early hours and then start again before 06.00. The driveway into the site is quite long and the main road, quite busy during the day, has little traffic over night. It's also far enough away from the pitches to not really intrude. There are also owls in the area and we heard these every night of our three night stay. There is quite a lot of wildlife in the area. We saw green woodpecker, nuthatch, tree creepers along with blackbirds and robins. We also heard a firecrest, but didn't see it. There are plenty of rabbits and a few squirrels to be spotted too. All good if you're staying with young children, but may cause a bit of barking if you have a dog.If you are staying here with a view to doing some cycling or walking, it's possible to access footpaths and cycling and routes without having to do too much or even no main road. We cycled to Ashbourne and also walked round the reservoir and didn't need to spend any time on main roads. There are also a couple of pubs within walking distance (up to 2 miles away) and if you plan to visit either of these and return after dark do take torches. The routes are easy to follow and OS maps have good detail for the area. The staff here do a really good job and obviously love the site and surrounding area. Friendly, helpful and a good source of information if you are going to explore. The office has a small selection of essentials on offer and the site is visited by a food van on some evenings - check the signs around the amenities block for details of what they offer and when they come to site. Our stay was excellent and we do plan to return.

Love the scenery of this site and the facilities are fantastic, but to me the site loses a star as the pitches are quite un-level which did leave a challenge in the motorhome and the phone signal is virtually none existent, data roaming is and the WiFi is useless as in most CAMC sites.

Spent a week here, not having been before. We are Caravan and Motorhome Club members and this site is exactly what you would expect from them. The toilet block is spotless and the wardens are very helpful and friendly. It is perfectly located to take advantage of the facilities at Carsington Water reservoir and visitor centre. We walked there from the site. One afternoon we hired kayaks for an hour (booked in advance online). Paddleboards were also available. It included hire of wetsuits and buoyancy aids. It's a lovely site set amongst pine trees but sadly there isn't a pub within walking distance which would have been nice.
