Slap bang in the centre of Newcastle, within walking distance of good pubs and restaurants and St James' Park. No frills, less spills luckily, with clean rooms with all the basics you need. The mattress was slightly uncomfortable and the bathroom smelt a little of urine, although it looked clean.

Good location and nice staff. However, the first room we were given hadn't been cleaned, the second room we were given had seemingly been cleaned but they still left a dirty towel in from the previous guest so it makes you question how clean the rooms actually are

Very helpful and considerate and very quick to sort out a room for the night.Had an unfortunate incident where our booking elsewhere didn't work out, and so we had to get somewhere to stay very late into the night. Liam on the service desk was very helpful and considerate to sort a room out for us.Functional, quick and efficient in a pinch, a dependable place and reasonable pricea

Oh my goodness!! Room smelt of smoke. Curtain rail hanging off the wall. Cigarette ends on the windowsill. Bathroom stained. Why do places persist in shower curtains in this day and age!I'm not sure if all rooms are like this, but if so, avoid. We did complain and have been offered an an e-vouchee for the cost of our stay, which in fairness was only £38. We haven't had it yet, though! But I won't be staying there again.

First off great price! We paid £39.99 for a Family room and we booked it on the same day we stayed that is great value if you ask me.Then we arrived the staff were great. They even helped us set up a disabled evacuation plan just in case of an emergency. The room was alright. Shower had seen better days but overall a good bathroom. The TV was a bit temperamental but worked for your main channels but that wasn’t an issue we were only here for a night. The beds were great I slept on a pull out bed and I had a better sleep on the pull out than I did in other 4 star hotels.Breakfast was great! A member of our group was gluten free and they provided Cereal and even Gluten Free Bread! You can’t fault the staff they were amazing at this hotel and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of the week.Great price and excellent location. The Travelodge itself is a little tired - carpets on the corridor were tatty in places and the entire Reception /bar area had a smell to it on entering - maybe the carpets needed cleaning? Our room also had a strange aroma. That said, the staff were lovely and friendly both on Reception and later in the bar area.We were upgraded at no additional cost to a family room which would be in a quieter part of the building. The beds are big and comfortable and there was everything that you need for an overnight stay.We decided to eat in the bar and chose 3 light bite dishes for just over £10 in total - very generous portions and tasty! A group of young lads at a nearby table ordered some delicious looking pizzas from the comprehensive menu.We also had free tea and coffee in the bar area.We were rather confused by the strange numbering system on the rooms - we were put in room 13 which involved going along a long corridor of rooms in the 200s then through a door and down one floor in the lift, another door and along a corridor. I'm still not sure exactly where we were in the hotel...We were not the only ones confused by this numbering system!Great value and location for one night.

Thankfully we stayed for just a few days here. The room (bed sheets, floor, towels and toilet) were dirty. When we asked for new towels we get some - also dirty. A loose apology from the ladies at the counter. The kettle was calcified and the cups dirty. No way to secure valuables. Very hard beds and only one blanket for two persons. No hand soap in the toilet. A dead bird in front of our window. If you don't plan to stay long, this is a good alternative, as the city can also be reached quickly. (20 minutes)However, you should not expect hygiene and friendly service.
