A nice house to visit in the town of Rye. It looks small from the outside but inside is bigger than it looks. You will have to check when it’s opening times are Incase they change. It was nice to see the detail of how people used to live in those days, some interesting historical facts about Henry James and how he used to live. Recommend.

Interesting small NT property, former home of the author Henry James. Lovely location in Rye, just round the corner from the picturesque Mermaid Street.

Small but significant place of interest to visit if you happen to be in Rye.You can see, read and enjoy everything in less than an hour. The knowledgeable volunteers are keen to chat about the history of the building and its past occupants. When you arrive, pop into the visitor desk housed in the adjacent building to get your ticket or pass first.

Beautiful National Trust property in the historic centre of Rye. Interesting Georgian house with a lot of literary history, beautiful and surprising garden for such a centre of town location. It's one of the smaller houses as NT goes, but well presented. Recommended

One of those NT houses you really feel you could live in. Good captions about the rooms and interesting details about Henry James and Fred Benson who lived there, besides all their literary friends. Lovely gardens.

Lamb House has more gorgeous rooms to see nowadays.Have always loved the feeling of going back in time as soon as you walk through the front door. The table set with white linen for tea or lunch is enchanting. So nice to sit in its small walled garden and relax on a hot summers day.Hard to imagine that such a lovely garden is sitting in the middle of Rye.Highly recommend a visit.

Lamb House is a lovely property in central Rye, and worth a 30 minute+ visit over two floors and a garden. This was built by Rye mayor James Lamb in 1723, stayed in by King George I, then later became the home of American writer Henry James from 1898-1916 and EF Benson. It includes a little information on him and the house as well as about the many other famous writers that visited. It’s unfortunate that the garden house was bombed in 1940, so the place he actually wrote no longer exists, but does have the house and garden where he lived.Tickets are next door (free with national trust), and parking is through one of Rye’s main lots.Volunteers are helpful, As well.

Charming little place to visit in the heart of Rye. The welcome was lovely and the information you are offered is relevant and allows you to appreciate the building. Shame the tea room is no more, but don't let this stop your visit, lots of places locally. The garden is delightful and easy to navigate.

My favorite writer, Henry James, lived here, and the king stayed here, and the spirit of hospitality is still present in this house. The garden and vegetable garden are just charming, the pumpkins have grown huge and it was the first time I saw a willow with pear fruits on the branches.
