The Golden Lion Hotel
Great location, twin room was very clean with a lovely bathroom but could do with a furniture re-shuffle which would improve being able to move past the beds.(My friend and I actually sat and reorganised the furniture in our heads!) The staff I encountered were all very helpful, in particular Lia.

Loved my stay at this warm welcoming, attractive hotel. Well positioned in the town. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and the toiletries were especially nice.

The Golden Lion Hotel
2nd stay and right in the middle of town, near to lots of little shops and restaurants. The staff are lovely and went the extra mile. We needed to change rooms (just a bit too warm for us, height of summer) but it was no trouble at all, no questions asked, just changed straight away, and we were given another fabulous room. The food is great and the breakfast was delicious. Thanks for a lovely stay

A lovely experience when eating out here for dinner, great atmosphere. My gammon was delicious. The drinks were good and the service from staff was brilliant. I would highly recommend for dinner if in St Ives.

The Golden Lion Hotel
Room rather small but well equipped and maintained. Too bad there's no air-conditioning in the rooms, so it was very hot on the first floor. Unfortunately there's only 1 towel for bathing, so sports after work calls for a shower, disabling the possibility of having a shower in the morning. Especially in the hot weather of 30+°C this is a bad show.Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast really good, quick service.

Had lunch there. The venue is a really nice place to be. Lovely, solid old building with really nicely done decor, and friendly staff. The food was good but not great. My thick cut chips were just odd. They were brown on the outside, but tasted that way, brown. Like they'd been overcooked. The inside of the chip was slightly undercooked and tasted almost boiled. And they were kinda floppy. It's honestly the first time in years that I've eaten almost none of my chips :D

I had a lovely stay and I liked my room. The cooked breakfasts were very nice. All the staff were very professional and friendly. It is in a great location too being on the high street. I would definitely stay here again.

Sunday lunch was the roughest I have had for a long time. Beef was undercooked, full of fat. Veggies had been shown the hot water and were near raw (a good job I don't mind that). Broccoli in a white substance, cheese sauce I think, was cold and crunchy too. Roast potatoes and the single parsnip were ok! The kale seemed fresh from the garden.Staff were lovely though.I will not revisit, overpriced and underwhelming.

The Golden Lion Hotel
This hotel is part of a chain with the Talbot at Oundle, The Bell at Stilton and The Golden Lion Hotel at St Ives amongst others. This is a lovely hotel and the menus are simple but something for everybody. The meals are extremely tasty and the surroundings welcoming and relaxing. We enjoy all 3 of the above places and visit one nearly every week. Nothing is too much for the staff at each hotel
