I've just been into butchers at Greenodd (Hutchinson) I never had any cash only my card, and it was cash only but the boss man still let me have what I required, I live in Barrow-in-Furness but he said to me just pay me next week, I couldn't believe how trustworthy this gentleman is,I only owe him £35 which I'm paying tomorrow. I just want to say a very big thank you for your judgement of myself and I can assure you I will see you tomorrow 23rd July. A great butcher's, definitely recommend and a very well stocked products. A proper butcher in a proper village. If you are looking for cheap, tasteless meat then don't stop here and keep driving to a supermarket. Here is fresh meat expertly prepared. Fantastic steaks this visit, sirloin and 1kg single slice of rump steak. Chicken and lamb also sampled, keep up the good work and accompanying conversation. It's great to see the art of traditional butchery still alive rather unlike most butchers" who slice open a plastic packet of meat

I’ve lived all over Europe and I appreciate good meat - from Romanian goose farmers who work magic with a smokehouse to goat farmers on the Akamas Peninsula, so I think I know what I’m talking about. I’m not saying that Hutchinson is the best butcher I’ve ever been to, but I am saying that he can hold his head up very high amongst the best I’ve known. I also realise that some people like their meat vacuum packed and labelled, or that they don’t know what to ask for - and that’s fine too. But if you’re interested in quality meat and either know what to ask for or if you’re happy to take a recommendation then this is perfect. I’ve been on a few occasions over many years, when I’ve been nearby (actually I’ve taken long diversions to come as well) and it’s always worth it. This time I’ve had his excellent black pudding (no powdered imported blood here) and some very good ham - important as the tide has sadly and notably gone out from the once world class Woodalls - as well as pork and lamb of top quality. I wanted to get more, particularly his beef, but time and onward travel precluded this. Cash only, or you can do a bacs transfer as I did. Long may he reign!
