Bruce McLean is an absolute genius. I have a huge collection of morph bearded dragons and live over 2 hours a way. I won’t go to any other vet now I have discovered him. His attention to detail, thoroughness and knowledge is quite incredible. I had a upper respiratory virus which ripped through my collection. We successfully treated them with antibiotics, and an immune booster; they all recovered. I’ve had various other problems and Bruce has always managed to find a way of treating them often by thinking outside of the box. He is clearly one of the best exotic vets in the country and I would highly recommend him to anyone who keeps reptiles. Makes a change from seeing a vet who “has an interest” in reptiles and no matter what the problem their option is “take a stool” sample and that’s pretty much it!!

Bruce is a miracle worker. Fantastic in helping us get our Tortoise back to health as was quite poorly and fantastic keeping our stress levels down knowing he was doing everything he could to help us and her.Would recommend Bruce to anyone as very knowledgeable, very nice man and very gentle with his patients. We would not take any of our animals to anyone else.

I first discovered Bruce when our little tortoise Freddie started turning pink at an alarming rate. After initially visiting a local reptile vet I was not convinced by there knowledge or alleged expertise and so I made the long journey to see Bruce in Oxford.Bruce's professionalism and attention to detail was instantly recognisable just from the amount of information he took about our Tortoise, I then returned to the waiting room while an initial assessment was made and Bruce then honestly informed me that my tortoise had a bad case of sepsis to the point were many tortoises may not survive.Bruce then wasted no time in carrying out further in depth examinations, X ray etc and I was blown away by how he not only identified the internal cause of the infection but also gave me a very detailed analysis about the overall general health etc and immediate treatment was administered.At every stage of the treatment Bruce was analysing the best possible way to carry out the necessary treatment in the best way that would keep our tortoises stress level to a minimum and also took into account that I had to travel a long way without compromising the health of the Tortoise.On my initial visit Bruce spent the best part of 2 hours with us and was in no way rushed and was happy to repeat himself as much as I needed to take in all the relevant information in my obviously stressed state.Thanks to Bruce's unbelievable knowledge of reptiles our tortoise made a full recovery and I have no doubt she would not of survived had I of stuck with the local vets who quite frankly were made to look like complete novices compared to Bruce.I thought that Bruce's charges were beyond reasonable.To summarise Bruce is a highly specialised reptile vet and despite it being a 6 hour round trip to see him, I would not even consider taking my tortoises to another vet!

We took our bearded dragon to Dr Bruce in September and he is an absolute wizard when it comes to exotic pets.He takes his time, and does a thorough examination. I would recommend Bruce to anyone with an exotic pet.It’s such a pity that he’s so far away from where we live.

The best! I can only say to the person who couldn't find the car park - why don't you moan at google or look at the map!!! Can not recommend highly enough. Compassionate, understanding, down to earth and always gives the best service. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

First class treatment for our Water Dragon today. Bruce was incredibly thorough and very knowledgeable, taking time to do a full work up to find the cause of her problems. After some changes to her viv and some treatment she seems happier.
