Student Roost - The Boulevard

Love living here. The place is so relaxed, really comfortable, loads of events going on and lots of free food in reception all week. Staff are great to talk to and for cheering up.

A very enjoyable experience to be had here, have stayed the previous year as well as the current year. Rooms are spacious and very nice, it has a great central location to the university and to the city centre. The staff are lovely and make the place more enjoyable to live at. If you're thinking about living here I would definitely recommend it

Great place to stay at for uni. Prices don't change between years

Don't leave here!The lift is always broken and you have to move your luggages by stairs and staff will not help you.There are ants everywhere in the building. The washing machines in the laundry are very dirty it can make your clothes very dirty after washed. The book shelf fell down I almost dead but the manager said nothing about that. My parcels can be taken away by someone else even if my room number is clearly written.This is a really stupid work team and I had a really bad experience.

Very disappointed of the maintenance. Fournitures (probably not good quality) are easily to be broken and staffs rarely remember to fix it even though you report to them. I’ve reported the problems of the furniture for two times and still no one come to fix it. The staffs are trying to avoid these problems.WiFi is not well connected in the room, for some times it just stopped working.Anyway the room is spacious, layout(studio) is good and I love the style of windows.

Very modern and comfortable accommodation but the best part is the team, very welcoming and friendly. Always happy to chat and help out! Make a great cup of coffee ☕

Comfortable, safe, and like a home away from home, The Boulevard was superb!There is a secure bike lock area and garden, the rooms are spacious with lots of storage, and an ensuite bathroom. The kitchen has everything you might want.There would also be quick repairs to anything that wasn't working in the flat/apartment.In terms of safety, a digital key card is what opens your room, and your room automatically locks. No one else can get in when your in the room or out of the room, unless you let them. This made me feel very safe staying in the room. Just don't lose your key card- it costs £10!That's a major downside to The Boulevard: washing and drying here is very expensive (at least £4-£8 per load). Another is that it's out of town, so you have to get on a bus to do anything fun.I stayed here during my 1st year of uni.The staff were so helpful when I had a problem in the flat/apartment, and got it sorted it double time. I was really impressed.There is a member of staff onsite 24/7, and many of them are chatty and will have a bit of laugh with you if their not busy. That made the Boulevard feel very friendly.The Boulevard staff organise wellbeing and social get-together (e.g. picnic in the park, Christmas tree decorating, bingo) throughout the year, so there's always ways to connect with your neighbours and not feel isolated.Of course a person's experience is unique to them, but personally I would recommend.

Far from the cheapest of student accommodation, but good sized rooms. Good luck getting though the gate though

I was a resident last year at this student accommodation.The management is practically nonexistent.The layout for dormitories is six rooms with a communal kitchen.Unfortunately the students that shared kitchen were unhygienic and that is being kind.The kitchen was never cleaned with rubbish and rotten food left lying around.The kitchen was mostly unfit for decent people to use, the worst was when friend came round what an embarrassment.I complained to the Derwent house management expecting some intervention as I was determined not to do all the cleaning in the kitchen..I was told that it is all the students responsibly to clean up the mess, in other words the management team washed their hands of the problem. The management do not take any responsibility for policing or controlling student behaviour. All the management are interested in is getting your money, when they have got it, your on your own.Please get some re assurances from the management company before you sign up, it may sound a little petty but it made my stay a miserable experience last year.As you probably guessed I will not be stopping at Boulevard this year.

I guess with living in student halls, it's you and your luck with regards to who you live with. I was fortunate to have amazing flatmates! They're considerate, clean and tidy. It also seems that there is decent sound insulation WITHIN the flat. However, the sound insulation between the floors is disastrous! The people living above me seem to sleep really late and walk like elephants. Something else really frustrating is that they seem to decide to take the rubbish out after mid night which always wakes me up! The rooms are well kitted out. The freezer space is extremely inadequate for the amount of people sharing. On the whole its not a bad place but I feel they could have made the sound insulation between the floors better.
