I am massive fan of carribean food and I have eaten all places from Bristol to London and Birmingham! I went here tonight for food and it was amazing the venue and the food was just perfect but the smoky g's sauce is called the 'ketch' me sauce the way that caught me is no joke and the stuffed dumplins was lovely... I will be coming here again probs weekly!! It was that nice

Took my nephews out for dinner here a couple of weeks after it opened. Service and food are impeccable. Busy night serving people in restaurant but we didn't have to wait long for large plates of delicious food. Even my fussy teen nephew cleaned his plate. Best Caribbean dine in and takeaway in Bristol. Shame they don't deliver but we'll be frequent visitors.Change of chef, so not as great as when first opened

An excellent place to eat, the choice on the menu was not big but the food tasted lovely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.Love the interior design of the shack feel. Will definitely be coming back again.

The lady looked like she was able to cook, which made the experience even worse, because now I doubt my judgement of people. The curry goat was standard but authentic. The rice was some sort of fake basmati rice, not real rice. There was a tonne of butter in the steamed veg. But the worst was the butternut/chickpea curry. For 9 pounds you get a microwaved portion of tinned slush. The colour was babyfood and the smell weird, the texture of the puree extremely weird, no spices like garlic or ginger to it, just heat, like baby diarrhea. Not eadible. If you are desperate and in the area, have the curried goat, but St Mary’s Kitchen is just a five minutes drive to the bottom of Gloucester Rd near the Arches. And they cook beautiful fresh food.

Always have the most amazing food at the shack, huge portions always leave feeling stuffed, the food is scrummy and has just the right amount of heat making it a great meal for everyone! I always forget to take a photo when the meal first arrives because I am too busy tucking in but here is a mid meal pic!

Too expensive 12 pieces of fried chicken chopped drum and thighs £25 first visit and the last one ! Can get way cheaper down the road and bigger portions for £1.50

Great music, service and atmosphere. Unfortunately all food was microwaved and not thoroughly so my curry was still cold in parts. 3 sides my party ordered were not available at the time but we were not told this until the main arrived.

Popped in for a lunchtime bite and was so glad I did! Chose the peppered steak strips and had the most tender meat in my life!! So tasty and a decent portion at a reasonable price. Also friendly staff and good music/atmosphere.
