Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quays, an IHG Hotel

Position couldn’t be any better for the shops and restaurants. Although parking is in the public car park it is free for the first 24 hours when the hotel validates the ticket and only an additional £2 per day after that, and the entrance is also adjacent to the hotel.The rooms are standard and beds are comfortable, there is a kettle and tea tray, iron and ironing board, shampoo & body wash provided.The breakfast is good, plentiful and hot drinks available all day.The most outstanding thing about the hotel are the staff, they are professional, extremely friendly and helpful - nothing seemed too much trouble for them.

The rooms were good, if slightly scruffy. They didn’t look as inviting as the pictures. No nice armchair in the room I was given. The car park feels like it’s miles away. This hotel doesn’t have its own car park as suggested, so you have to park in the shopping centre. At least the hotel is by the sea. Staff could try and be more welcoming.

The rooms are really good, and have everything you might need. The free WiFi and breakfast are great too. Excellent location for Gunwharf too, if that is where you need to be!The downside is that the breakfast is pretty chaotic, and the staff can't really keep up with demand.

Had a short city break here and found the location at gunwharf great.The staff were very friendly and professional. Breakfast had a good selection but the beans and hashbrowns were cold.The rooms were a bit tired and in need if a paint ect. But a fair size and the layout was good.But the biggest let down is the smell of mould/damp in your room and corridors of the hotel its very off putting for me and to be honest would probably put me off staying again.

Best loaction to stay if you have loads of shoppings to do. The hotel is so close, you do not need to carry them around. Plus the car park is so big, plenty of spaces! Nice and clean rooms! Totally would recommend to anyone and everyone! Also they do very yummy breakfast too!

I stayed at the Portsmouth hotel with my family and the staff were absolutely fantastic, other than the older bald man named Stephen.He was incredibly rude and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in the hotel. He was patronising and belittling, not a way you would speak to a paying customer at all. As a business owner myself I would be absolutely mortified if a member of staff spoke to my client like this.Maria and Lee were so wonderful and perhaps the only reason I would consider returning. I would highly recommend having them run a customer service program for the rest of your employees, and I would strongly consider having Stephen retrained.Please let me know how you plan on actioning this complaint so I can decide if our annual trip here will be elsewhere next year.

As usual great location right in the heart of gunwharf queys rooms are clean and tidy as well as all the communal areas.The only thing that let's them down was breakfast not enough staff on and not ensuring that they are on top of the food had to wait 20mins for fresh tomatoes and baked beans

Amazing location for a weekend in Gunwharf. However, what made the stay was the staff. The service was excellent. The team at reception went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and injected some fun into the checking in process with games, nibbles and drinks! The staff in the morning who were on hand and available during breakfast were also just as friendly and the breakfast options were plentiful. I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn express.

Had a good stay here Thursday and Friday, breakfast included but only had it Saturday morning. The selection was not great and had been there some time, orange juice was not fresh but like squash as was apple juice. The bar area was ok and open till 2am. Bar staff were very good. Room was good but toilet roll holder came off the wall when I tried to change the roll. In general a great centrally located hotel for all the great things to do in the area.
