So peaceful, very relaxing and out of the way, cartmel racecourse is within walking distance along with some lovely pubs, a short drive to Tesco express or a premier

Lovely New Year’s Eve spent here. Very relaxing. Excellent base! Lodge (Texel) was luxurious, spotlessly clean, had everything we needed! Log fire was amazing! Got so hot we had to open the windows!! Hot tub superb. Only tiny niggle - would be good to have better walk area around hot tub as most people would go down to hot tub in bare feet (as we did) and the area is gravel. But other than this I couldn’t recommend enough! Infact we’ve booked a week in the summer holidays because we loved the lodge and the area so much!!

Nice clean place with good amenities. Good location, 5-10 min to Grange Over Sands. Highly recommend buying Cartmel Sticky toffee pudding which is made and sold nearby.

Nice and clean lodge lovley and cozy. Was really happy they had a gate on the top of the decking to keep my dog safe. Really happy to go back and chill out after a long day walking.. Would go back to the same lodge again..

Great log cabins here that are available all year round very cosy and inviting with a hot tub and Log burner. The owners will throw you a quick text shortly before you arrive to inquire if you would require any logs.We had what they call a weekend pack which comprised of two large sacks of logs, one large sack of kindling and a plastic bag of five fire lighters. This easily lasted us four days when only used in the evenings and cost us £12 at the time of this review. When we arrived we had complimentary tea, coffee and sugar, a small bottle of milk in the fridge and a small sticky toffee pudding. Also left on the side was a reasonable size slab of white mint cake. The overall accommodation is very clean and well kept with Oak and leather furniture, my only moan would be the roller blind at the sink which had a large selection of pressed flies and mosquitos pressed and preserved into it.There is a TV with a sky box but just the basic channels. Also included is a washing machine and dish washer. The bathroom comes with one toilet roll to start you off and two large pumps of shower gel and body lotion fixed to the wall. The shower itself is a large walk in one which is great, again my only problem with it being a loose operating handle which twice fell off on my girl friend.Outside there is a semi private fenced area with a table and two chairs and the hot tub set to 37 degrees. The hot tub is fantastic all though not level so one side was far deeper than the other.Should you forget your slippers you can order a pair for a few quid to tide you over during your stay.Locally the views are incredible as you would expect in this part of the country with lots of rambling/hiking available.Cartmel is a stone's throw away with a few good pubs and a fair few gift shops and tea shops scattered around. There is also a superb cheese shop with a real ale shop and a wine shop seated either side of it.Lake Windemere is about a 25-30 minute drive away with cruises running throughout the day.In your cabin you will find a folder with no end of local things to see and do but just be conscious of the time of year as alot of this is based outside and so not advisable in the cold and wet unless your into this kind of thing.Overall a highly recommended retreat!!
