Lucky enough to see The Hives here for the launch of their album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, amazing show in a great venue!! Nice and intimate with a really up close and personal experience…rather than tiny dots on a distant stage for 5 x the price! Staff we encountered we friendly. Not too much else to say, it’s a music venue that delivers what you expect and is in a really great location just a short walk from the seafront, pier and loads of restaurants. Recommended and look forward to seeing more shows here in the future.

+Reviewing as a music venue only, I've not been here as a club+Another great venue in Brighton, this one more mid sized with capacity for about 700 people I believe. Large cloakroom, clean toilets and great sound system. There's a balcony at the back you can stand on to keep out of the chaos, with its own smaller bar. Drinks are a little more expensive than some of the smaller venues around town that I've also reviewed but nothing major, and certainly not as expensive as a club in London. The drink selection is good too!The staff I've interacted with have always been friendly, even when it's absolutely packed and they're clearly very busy. The space for merch desks is nice and big so there's enough room for bands to set out all their stuff. Overall a good venue for larger artists, worth a look of a band you like is playing here.

Saw a quality band with great atmosphere. Polite bouncers with a sense of humour. Efficient and polite bar staff. No toilet queues and compact layout. Would definitely visit again.

Pretty good venue for smaller gigs. Bouncers are polite and helpful, as are the bartenders. If you're teetotal, bring your own nonalcoholic drinks. The ones they sell are very overpriced (£4.50 for a bottle of water, and £7.50 for coke).

Chalk in Brighton is an absolute musical haven! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and the pure love for music that permeates the venue. The acoustics are top-notch, ensuring that every note and lyric is crystal clear. What sets Chalk apart is the diverse range of artists and genres they host. Whether it's an intimate acoustic set or a high-energy rock performance, Chalk delivers exceptional live music experiences. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The bar offerings are impressive, and the entire setup is comfortable and inviting.Brighton is lucky to have a venue like Chalk, where music lovers can come together and create unforgettable memories. I can't recommend this place enough – it's a true gem for both artists and fans alike!

Good sized venue. Had good music and had a offer where double shot vodka mixes were only £3.50 which is incredible. Alright security and felt safe. Lots of places to order drinks along with a cloak room for only £2. Definitely recommend.

The bouncer “David” refused me and my friend entry as he thought we were chanting sexist chants. Whilst I understand that he may have confused us with the group infront of of us who were guilty of the act. We tried to explain and prove with videos of the event that we weren’t apart of it. He refused to listen to reason and removed us from the queue when we’d travelled from London and spent a fair amount of money getting there. The bouncers seem to be having a power trip and think they control the world. Would appreciate a manager or someone with real authority responding so this can be resolved

Great atmosphere. Just don't bother with the cloakroom for sold out gigs. Arrived at 7.30pm for a gig advertised 6-10pm. Queued for 30mins to ditch coat, gig finished at 9pm! Queued for almost an hour to get coat out again as they wanted to clear the club before having their regular Saturday night.
