Nothing to complain about, friendly staff and wide choice of glasses

I've just got back from Scrivens having had an eye test this morning and this has been my best experience in an opticians ever!All of the staff were very friendly and genuine, they really wanted to help. They took the time to understand and appreciate my position. I don't think you find that quality of service in the big outlets, I certainly haven't, it's usually just in and out in the quickest time possible.The Optometrist, Jason, took the time to listen and appreciate me telling him how my vision has changed over the past couple of years. He also gave a good explanation on the changes that have taken place with my eyes and my sight. Very thorough and informative with his tests and this made for a much more comfortable experience.The Manager helped me in the store and was thorough in showing me my options. They understood my position and was very helpful.All in all like I say my best opticians visit ever.

Made an appointment nearly 2 weeks in advance which they refused to honour, saying the person who made the appointment had been sacked. Tried to make another appointment but every date I suggested they didn't have an optician in the branch!!!

Would not recommend going to Scrivens for your opticians. My nan went there to have her eyes tested and she had been told that she has a Cataract but it was nothing to worry about and to go back there a year later for another check up. They had given her a new prescription for a pair of glasses (which they wanted nearly £500 for) and the gave the prescription to the Eyewear Factory and got then back in a weeks time, and when she received them she couldn’t see anything. She had then been wearing her old glasses so that she would be able to see and then the following day she decided to try her new glasses on again and after wearing them for the second time, they had given her terrible headaches and had also made her throw up in the evening. This had then repeated itself another day when she wore the glasses. She had then went back to the Eyewear Factory and had told them that she cannot wear them due to the reasons I have previously stated, they had then told me to go somewhere else to go and get my eyes tested and then had been given a prescription that was lower to what Scrivens had given her and they had told her that her Cataract was way worse to what she had been told. She had phoned the head office of Scrivens and they had told her that she needs to take the glasses back. They had said that nothing was wrong with the glasses and to go back to the Eyewear Factory. She is now having an appointment at the hospital very soon about wether they can remove the cataract or not and the Eyewear Factory has gotten in touch with Scrivens and they don’t want anything to do with this situation, so we wanted to warn people who are thinking of going there before they take your money to give you the wrong prescription. I would rather not give them any stars but it wouldn’t allow me to post this without a star. And thank you to the eyewear Factory as once she had her cataract sorted they are giving her glasses for free and will be moving to a different opticians.

I would like to say thank you very much to David from Scrivens in Shirley. Had my eye test a few months back, chose my new frames, had them fitted but I had a problem with the plastic frames. David then advised to get a pair where you can adjust the nose pads. Got my replacement and have had the same problem. David has very kindly adjusted them and put larger nose pads to help with the problem. They have been so very helpful and can not fault the service they have provided. Thank you very much

Staff are very professional and friendly

Excellent service from Hannah today, in sorting out mum’s hearing aid. Endlessly patient, checked we understood everything and always looked at mum when she spoke. (Instead of looking at the computer, which is not much help when you are very deaf).
