YMCA Fairthorne Manor

My daughter went for a Residential trip in her year 6 here in fairthorne last month(June). My honest review is that She liked the activities here with friends but regarding food she Said it was not at all tasty, she said breakfast was ok as there was options like toast etc but lunch and dinner she struggled very hard even to have 2 or 3 bites and not only her but all her friends complaint about food.Regarding bed she felt it was like sleeping on a stone such a hard without bedspreads, blankets or pillows, she has to carry everything in her luggage. She didnt had a proper sleep. There was only one washroom for the whole campsite so it was hard for all the children to take shower, she only took a quick shower only one time on staying 4 nights/ 5 days.But activities for the children seems to be good and she enjoyed so I am giving 3 stars. As we pay bit more money for the residential my expectation is atleast to have a good tasty food for the children and facilities like comfortable beds, more washrooms. Probably it's better if they improve that in future.

Absolutely brilliant daycamps for kids. Outside with laughter and learning and making new friends. Thank you to all the team at YMCA.

We had a good time camping, it's a lovely site with woodland and river views and lots of wildlife, owls, deer, rabbits etc. We took part in the axe-throwing activity and did give feedback whilst there since £5 for 6 axe throws was a bit stingy, it was listed as 3.30pm-5pm, however we were finished within 15 mins and by the time we'd got our aim it was over. Another family had come from Southampton and were also disappointed. The activity is fun, but please do something like 40 minutes for £25/£30 each or similar to make it worthwhile and fun for people. We've done loads of activities here before such as family festivals/kayaking/zip wires and it's normally well-priced and a great experience.

Had a fantastic couple of days away with school children, kayaking, abseiling, jumping pillow,forest activities and camp fire. Such a beautiful location with lots to do,definitely worth a visit.

We had a lovely stroll around the woods for the Halloween walk.We were given a check list of things to find.Was all laid out great and the little one liked her little bag of sweets she won for completing it.The brownie in the cafe was lovely.

We attended the Family Halloween Day today and had the best time. Our girls, aged 11 & 13 loved carving pumpkins, the games and Zip Lining in the rain! The spooky trail was great fun too, lots of crashing through the muddiest of puddles. Warmed up in the cafe with coffee and chips. All the staff were excellent and very personable and made our day great. We're looking forward to coming back to another event soon.

We go here every Year, since our boys turned 3, they are now 12. Great pitch 65 and 66, toilets and showers. Only gripe this year is we weren't told that the lake had been filled, (we usually canoe or kayak, and cool off since it was 35degrees, something we have always done. We manged to find a stream so kids could have a play. Great to be able to have a fire.

The Spooky Trail was the perfect trail for my two, energetic, boys! Just simply being at one with nature and walking in the beautiful grounds, with the added bonus of a quiz which the whole family could enjoy! Thank you Fairthorne Manor for another fab trail, we'll be back for the Christmas trail!

Went to the young carers festival 2023 here with devon young carers, I had my friends Connor and Raif with me so it was a lot of fun.

A great campsite, with good facilities and lots of fun activities.
