Prudence Gowns Plymouth

Loved my wedding dress and veil i was really comfortable in it. Thank you to laura at prudence gowns for picking this style of dress for me I really didn’t think I would like it on me but I really do. I went in thinking I would prefer a bigger puffy dress but when she suggested this and I tried it on I knew I loved it. When I said I wanted to cover my arms she suggested this jacket top with it. Loved it all, thank you so much everyone at prudence gowns.

Lucie did a great job at guiding me through the various dresses and finding the style that’s right for me. Lots of expert advice given, couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first time trying on dresses, would recommend.

Friendly staff and brilliant service.I bought my wedding gown from Prudence Gowns the first visit to the shop. Served by Lucy, a superb apprentice, she made my mum and I feel well attended to and was great in helping choose dress ideas. The shop was beautifully presented, with a warm feeling from the other staff members.Lucy was very professional throughout the entire fitting, whilst involved multiple dress trying and measurements. A very lovely individual who represented Prudence fantastically. I'd highly, highly recommend this shop to anyone who is after quality customer service and a beautiful gown.

Absolutely beautiful experience with Prudence gowns when my daughter was choosing her wedding dress. Sue was amazing, helpful and made the whole appointment as special as you’d expect it to be. Thank you for helping her to say “Yes to the dress”

I did not have a very good experience on 25th March 2023. I felt as though staff simply couldn’t be bothered as it was later in the day and it felt as though they were ready to go home. There was no enthusiasm or no conversation which was a shame as this is meant to be an exciting experience. I felt as though I was inconveniencing them by not liking the dresses I was trying. I was in and out within 45 minutes and felt very deflated leaving the shop. Would not recommend

Very disappointed!Not a good experience at all.My daughter was very anxious and was in tears when we left.Brides to be should be made to feel special not uncomfortable. We left after only 30 mins.I wish we had read the reviews beforehand as we wouldn't of booked a appointment.Staff need more training or maybe a change in career would be more appropriate.

Lucie is an absolute delight, she is so helpful, takes in everything you have asked for and also thinks outside of the box providing things that I wouldn’t have picked but were beautiful. She goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Highly recommend going to Lucie, she made saying yes to the dress a very special occasion.

Shocking service I would not recommend!As a bridesmaid I ordered a dress and had my measurements taken. I then received my dress for it to be so big it fell down, I was then told I had to get my dress altered elsewhere which I had signed a form. The problem is when I took my dress to my seamstress she told me the dress was an American size 10 US I am a uk size 8 so surely the dress they ordered should have been a size 6 US, and had to have 2” taken off each side of the dress when i complained via email I was basically told that I had lost a lot of weight which I may have lost a little but no way that much as always been a size 8 uk dress size.The owner Sue should seriously sort out her attitude and maybe help to resolve issues rather than blaming her customers!!

It was a very apprehensive mother and daughter who went wedding dress shopping fearing the pressure and hard sell however it was a lovely experience with us being looked after well. The consultant listened and respected my daughters thoughts and concerns and nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t find ‘the dress’ but would encourage all brides to be to give it a try.

Choosing your wedding dress should be an exciting time right? I left the shop feeling like rubbish! Even though I found THE dress (I cried!) after trying a few on. Throughout the “experience” I felt like there was eye rolling when I didn’t particular think some of the dresses were me. It felt like Sue thought we were a bunch of 12 years trying on dresses for fun . Between myself, 4 bridesmaids (don’t get me started in their dresses, even after being measured , 3 of the 4 dresses have to had alterations as 2 are 2” too big and one is 4” too big), my husband to be and 4 groomsmen it was a total cost of £3100 , a lot of money! The groomsmen had a great experience , thank you Claire! Shame I couldn’t say the same for me and my bridesmaids! The day we collected the dresses and suits , Laura was AMAZING , helped me into my dress with enthusiasm and was bubbly and made me feel special , and she sat with us while we explained how awful the previous experience was.If you do use Prudence Gowns, my recommendation would be to deal with Claire for menswear and Laura (I haven’t had experience with anyone else). AVOID being “helped” by Sue.
