The gentleman who works there with the glasses was rude and very sarcasticI can’t wear a mask with my health condition.When I walked in he said ‘not fancy wearing a mask like’ and when I told him I can’t he just kept shaking his head.HE WASN'T EVEN WEARING ONE HIMSELF! Idiot

While the Sainsbury Local in Durham Centre offers a decent selection of snacks and essentials typical of the brand, my experience with their check-out process has been less than ideal. Despite being equipped with 4 or 5 tills, it's a common occurrence to find only 2 of them manned, which inevitably leads to longer wait times. Additionally, the store's commitment to fulfilling delivery orders often seems to divert staff attention away from in-store service. It's a noticeable omission that there are no self-service checkouts, a feature that could greatly alleviate the queuing issue. Outside of the checkout wait, the store offers the usual Sainsbury standards in terms of product quality and customer service. If they could improve their checkout efficiency, it would greatly enhance the shopping experience.

A nice convenient Sainsbury's, the 4 stars is due to limited stock and occasional ques, however, staff have better training and over all, not the greatest store I've been in around the city (the last good store closed sadly :(...) However, it's just a good store.Would be 5 stars if they expanded the way Tesco's did, I've shopped at both, must say, Sainsbury is slightly better thanks to lax staff, sadly though, the store is small and prices are slightly inflated to compensate.Would be 5 stars.1. Small store = limited items.2. Size = prices.Thats the honest truth for the 4 stars, overall, ain't too bad!

Manager doesn't follow own one way system. Plus when you leave you walk past the tills and then have to walk past the manager to leave. I pointed out that it's not covid secure to be forcing customers to walk past a member of staff in an area that was hardly 1m let alone 2. I was told not to come back. When I went past later there were 3 staff in the same place all of them forcing customers to squeeze past while they talked. What a joke.

The convenient location and ample clientele does not make up for the poor service. I don't understand why all the clerks in it seemed so angry and impatient and didn't even want to answer customers' questions. The most outrageous was one of the white old lady clerks who treated the non-white customers in an incomprehensible manner, showing two different faces to both white and non-white people. It makes you wonder if the shop's mission is racist? The old lady even said you need to say PLEASE to me" after the customer had clearly stated that they needed a bag. Why do I need to say PLEASE to get a bag that I need to pay for? Racist people always show their hand in the smallest things and it's hilarious

I go there every time to buy cigarettes(Pall Mall XL) and the old man said he doesn’t do it when every other staffs know that I go there and get them but he said “we don’t do them” and he didn’t even LOOK for them to begin with so I went to Tesco and they still do them. It’s stupid. I’m not against all staffs there, they’re all lovely but the old one is lying.
