Tried out the new menu today, steak and Guinness pie was delicious as was the rump steak and onion ciabatta sandwich. Good portions and well presented, will definitely be back.

Hadn't been in since the pub had changed management. It was not very appealing in the past. Thought we'd give it another chance.Not alot has changed. The cask ale (Timothy Taylor landlord) was quite flat. Poor. Person on bar was stressed out as there was an issue with till. She was quite abrupt and rude. Its not the ot the customer's fault! Failed customer service! She needs some training on coping with these situations. We won't be rushing back. Two positive consolations 1) nice beer garden 2) dog friendly.We didn't eat but had atmosphere been different we may have! It's in an area where there is potential for it to be a booming business especially in summer months. It's close to canal with walkers, cyclists, barges (holiday makers) and a marina, there's a couple of new housing estates. Need to work on ambience and giving a warm welcome, better staff attitudes and marketing around the canal bank/marina. Felt the clientele were regulars but not many! We got the feeling we were sat at someone's table! If looks could kill. Needs a more cheery welcoming atmosphere.

Called in this afteroon for late lunch, early tea.I had steak and Guinness pie which was very filling. And a nice pint of Tymothy Taylors Landlord.The staff were very friendly and I highly reccommend this pub.It was fairly quiet but the regulars were very friendly.
